Let me guess, this isn't out yet. I think I'd be shocked if you posted something in here that was actually "officially" released .

Yesterday I was programming my old Korg drum machine for a demo, and a pattern I came up with inspired a totally new rhythm guitar part for the verses. I often find that messing around and tweaking drum patterns can lead to exciting new things. As for lyrical inspiration, sometimes I find that a good movie will inspire new ideas. Inevitably I'll watch something by Antonioni, Cassavetes, Herzog, or Fassbinder and find myself inspired to create something of my own.

(parenthetical portions of song titles annoy me)
GtrPlyr replied to tongue-tied's topic in Someone Else's Song
I was in a band with a guy that had that pet peeve. It doesn't bother me that much, but on an aesthetic level I don't like it which is why I've never used parenthesis in any of my own song titles. -
I think of that one more as a Baroque Pop record than a psych record. If we we're counting it as a psychedelic record than we'd have to include stuff like The Millennium's "Begin" to the list as well. Both of those I'd classify as great Baroque Pop records with slight hints of pyschedelia, but not enough to belong in the category.

That was the first album I thought of when I saw this thread.

^^ I've always loved that song. Leon's original version is great, as is Donny Hathaway's cover of it a year later.

I don't think Quinn had anything to do with the shooting either, the motivation isn't there. Also, if he was going to shoot anyone, it would be Dexter who knows he's a dirty cop, not Deb and Lundy. I'm not a big fan of the La Buerta/Batista pairing. I must say I was a bit disappointed when they got rid of Batista's love interest from last season Detective Barbara Gianna. They should have let that storyline play out a little longer instead of trotting out the old office romance chestnut.

My tastes are fairly wide so I can't say I really gravitate towards one style over another. For that reason my Wilco mix would probably have a bit of everything on 1 disc.

I saw those t-shirt vendors after the show. I'm always leery of people selling cheap shirts outside a venue. I'm a bit skeptical about how long the shirt will last, especially after a few washings. I ended up getting the "classic" black Wilco shirt, my gf got the green and blue one.

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell had a bunch of great ones. George and Tammy too.

^^ I enjoyed that one too. Watched this one last night:

Their lead singer is Geoff Tate .

That was quite the ending on the last episode. I guess if Lundy doesn't make it, it's going to be up to Deb and Dexter to find Trinity. Either way, I think we can safely assume that Dexter is going to be more active in the Trinity case as the season progresses. I'm sure Trinity will be looking into Deb's background now, after the shooting, and this should lead to some interesting interactions between him and Dex down the road. As for Lundy, I'm still not convinced that he is dead. He is the guiding force of the whole Trinity storyline after all, and he provides conflict for Deb's character

Funny, inspiring and moving. Highly recommended. I must admit that some of the parts where Lips is working in the catering job looked like outtakes from The Wrestler. There were also a few Spinal Tapian moments. The fact that they're getting big gigs and appearing on late night shows now makes this the ultimate "Rocky" of the music world.

I think the fact that of all their songs, this fairly mellow mid-tempo soul song is the one singled out as a singalong shows the perverse nature of the band. Not exactly the one in their catalog that screams singalong. You gotta love 'em for trying to make it one though .
