  1. Be a Part of It Tips 'n' tricks for taking in Tweedy here is the link http://tinyurl.com/2kwwwq
  2. http://www.marfatx.com/ I just hope the weather holds. Not only for my sake but i Jeffs and his crew's. i'll be driving in a Volvo which should handle the slick roads better than a tour bus.
  3. Weird like Wilco weird... some people don't understand different and suggest it's Weird. Kinda like the Marfa lights, some say they are weird i say they are beautiful...
  4. There is a ticket seller on ebay that is using this as a bonus for his sale. cool or no? http://tinyurl.com/sl82p As an added bonus, I will throw in a 2 disc copy of my favorite Jeff Tweedy acoustic live show. This is a show from 3/5/99 and includes many songs before they were released on Summerteeth. Checkout the coverart here. (and yes, if you want a copy of this show, just email me thru ebay and I will make you a copy. The live show is not for sale, but just an added bonus, to make these tickets stick out from the rest).
  5. No i can't make Tulsa just Dallas and Marfa. Someone will be there to tape it... there always is.
  6. It's first class all the way for a club venue. It's got good food, it's clean and no smoking. Also the security guys wear shirt that say serenity on the back as opposed to security and that's the way they act... like they are happy you are there. My only complaint is they sell beer in glass and not plastic so there is a lot of noise when people toss their bottles in the trash and could cause some distraction for the listener and the artist when playing solo acoustic. I'm there and I'll be the one about half way back on the floor with a mic stand 12 feet up in the air with a DAT on a wire.
  7. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but, i just got notification from itunes select tracks form Neil Young's Bridge Benefit concerts are being offered. Of interest here are two tracks from when Wilco played there back in 2003; Bob "Dylan's 49th Beard" and "Company in my Back." The usual 99 cents a track or you can get all 80 for 60 bucks.
  8. I gotta say it's nice to see all these pictures being shared here even weeks after the gig. I decided to attend this Wichita show as opposed to a much closer to my house San Antonio show because of the simple research i did on both venues. It was worth the extra 4 hours in the car because the Cotillion has got to be the most unique indoor venue i have ever had the pleasure of seeing Wilco or any band for that matter; Outdoor it's hands down Fort Adams State Park in Newport RI. Keep the pictures coming it's keeping the memories fresh!
  9. The success of a wedding is not about the venue but quality of the band and the liquor.
  10. I got you by a week! i stumbled into the Gypsy Tea Room right after i got into taping and Wilco happen to be the band playing that night. I was just there to practice my new found hobby. I had never hear one tune by the band until the first notes of their opening tune "I'm Always in Love" were played that night. Jeff was a bit pissed off at their gear and sound as a few times during the gig the band pauses trying to get things worked out and bitch. It was one of the only times in my life after hearing a band play live before any other exposure or heads up has cause me to collect their ba
  11. Thanks for sharing those picts "kamelamin" where Clays are closer yours give a better perspective of the venue and the ambiance the band shell at the Cotillion offers. That venue would have been a great place for one of those early AGIB shows when the band was using the slide show visual pictures. This Wichita show had the best lighting for any Wilco show i have been to and your pictures capture it perfectly.
  12. from info from that blog link if he didn't have his own gear i'm sure the puppets stayed home. Cool wardrobe from the band though.
  13. life is sometimes not fair! read this shit... http://gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/2006/11/...-in-dallas.html
  14. Thanks for the info good Dr. but please tell me the puppets weren't there... When i saw them back in June i thought it one of the most unique and original idea i have seen in rock. I loved the Nokia show and that show full blown at the tea room with me and my wife not in attendance would be just too much. I already have to go home this evening and break the bad news to the wife that we missed this gig. She is the bigger Beck fan but who expects me to keep an eye on our live music world... Did you see anyone taping?
  15. What!!! that's my stompin' grounds for gigs! where in the world did you hear about that and how much notice did you get for it? I feel sick to my stomach for not being there!
  16. The show is up on the VC tracker enjoy! http://bt.viachicago.org/details.php?id=622 dave
  17. You guys are turning this thread in to some type of elitist "my shits better than your shit" but my intention to answer the original post was to provide info on my experience. i have had a number of different qualities of gear through out my life and i can hear a difference in it. Like it our not you pay for what you get in this world. Louie I could care less what you can afford or how long you have been a vinyl listener or that you have 4000 LP's and i only have 200. but don't accuse me of some bull shit blanket statement. I'm not discouraging any one from enjoying vinyl. Get what you can
  18. a piece of shit ford pinto will get you from point A to point B in about the same amount of time as it will in a Rolls Royce, but in the Rolls you will get a much quieter, smoother and enjoyable ride. If all you care about is being able to play a recored go with the piece of shit pinto. If you want to be able to really hear what vinyl offers you gotta take a spin in the Rolls. just a analogy... dave
  19. I have recently upgraded my home stereo to include vinyl and that is all i listen to at home any more. I don't know if a hundred bucks will get you much for your $$. You should consider saving up and buying a quality new table or else spend the 100 on a new needle for a table that is given to you. Buy pieces at a time, your system will sound great and it will last you a life time. I had 3K in my budget and was able to get some good "low end" audiophile gear. (some people spend that on audio cords!)For my budget Music Hall has a nice series of turntables, Onix has a quality tub amp priced r
  20. Soon, complete with some outstanding art done by "creativetype" with those kick ass photos of his that have been seen here. This may be the first fan compiled package that has a photo credit from a band member. I kind of like to have some fresh ears listen and proof the recording before it's shared in mass, and that's being done now. Chill out you have still have the memory. dave
  21. We are not the only ones... After the Wichita gig i met Jeff to get some feedback from the AGIB tour comp i authored and I that i gave the band a copy back in early 2005. After asking him if he got a chance to give it a listen he replied he remembered it as a three disc set; it is actually four disc if you count the covers and tv appearances thats on disc four. And he thought it a nice gesture, but he said he can't listen to live Wilco music. He appreciates the effort of us tapers but that's for us to enjoy he has no interest in hearing himself sing for his own enjoyment. He even said
  22. You evidently did not attend any of the shows... While i don't mind Jeff's play to be edgy it's kind of annoying when people are trying to talk over the edgy play. Thank God the movie did not capture the annoyance of some members of the audience. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It gives a great retrospective of everything about that short NW tour. From the weather, the beautiful scenery that region offers, the cool venues Jeff played, up to the most important aspect of any tour... the Music!
  23. I don't know for sure but they must. Otherwise why would they offer free stuff (post cards) and reduced price books? i got "Adult Head" for 5 bucks and the back of it reads a $15 value.
  24. I got the package just now complete with Adult Head and the post cards. The cards are the same set i saw being sold at the merch tables at the Ft. Worth and Wichita gigs. One more thing i have to get the band to sign and have framed! Life of a rock fan could be worse. Thank God i could give a shit about the World Series this year. I get the evening to focus on reliving my magic run of Tweedy shows last February. dave
