They had some tunes to check out on their web site and the tracks i heard were nothing special. Writing or musically. But the true test for me is to see them live. Unless they open for someone i want to see, that's probably not going to happen.

For me and VC buzz, i would have to say Arcade Fire and the Avett Brothers are to very good bands that i'm sure will stand the test of time that i learned about here. Thanks for that VC. I really didn't think The Strypes were a band that would hit home with a lot of Wilco fans but i'm pretty excited and can't wait for the new vinyl to hit my door step. I'll have to check out the Pernice Brothers too.

For me most bands longevity depends on the depth of their songwriting and live performances. Granted with this genre of music it's directed at topics that have long past me by. But that said, there are clever ways to write about sex, drugs and rock and roll that keep me as a music fan enjoying and supporting the act. The Stones are a band that has always done that, as well as newer bands like the Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Tokyo Police Club. I'm not sure why the corporate american music scene can't feed real rock and roll to the tween masses with bands like the Strypes. Boy how times have changed! ZZ Top used to play every New Years eve in Dallas back in the early to mid 80's And those shows were epic! One of the last show i saw on New Years eve 1983 had the Busboys open and ZZ Top didn't hit the stage until 11:30. Oh to be young again!

i have come to expect rude behavior from a minority of fans when solo artist play venues that have bar service through out. But when those same artist play higher end, performance arts type venues, with limited bar service. I expect, and usually get a more respectful audience. Being a taper i am pretty sensitive to crowd chatter at solo shows. But i have found the "shushers" at these shows usually more annoying and affect the recordings more then the drunks. This is a old topic with noise at gigs. But because the abuse of cell phones in public, which in my opinion is causing social retar

At the living room show i attended this year a friend of mine from Dallas, who was also there and is a rather accomplished guitar player in his own right. Played that tune with Jeff and really offered a cool spin on the tune with some of his riffs. Jeff shot him a few cool looks during their performance. I would love to hear this version to see if there was any influence from that evening.

i'll buy the reissue for listening and keep my sealed original pressing for investment. I keep telling my wife my vinyl collection is one of her 401K's when i die. Hopefully she won't just garage sale them. Although i have been keeping a accurate inventory and estimated value for her. I personally love reissues of rare albums. If i have the original in my collection i can shelf it and still enjoy the music in analogue.

Every time Wilco has played ACL they have had a Dallas date. This time will be no different. I have stopped going to ACL because most of the headlining bands team up and play small to mid sized venues around here the week before the festival. I can see two and sometimes three ACL acts in a seated air conditioned venue for a fraction of the cost of the festival.

They are the best Sunday morning lisetning music on the planet. Mellow, thoughtful lyrics, smooth groove. Great band to kick off the week ahead.

i think the gag translated better to those of us close to the stage. You could tell it was part of the gag and there was nothing random about the picking of songs. From my spot i could see him pull the ball out of his pocket before he went to the bingo machine. Also it didn't look like anything was written on the supposed song list paper he fumbled with . I can see how those further back could become disconnected with the bit. But it was funny and different from anything i have ever seen during a rock show. Well said Wendy. The comment Jeff made that night was tongue in cheek. LRS are mostly about music but also like a Tweedy stand up comedy routine. For me it's a chance to see the real sense of humor he possesses and frequently displays in his writing. Jeff has the same shtick that he has shown in public shows, only it's amplified with his one on one encounters at the LRS. My first LRS i was fortunate enough to attend, i really wanted to hear "When you Wake Up Feeling Old."
