Jenny is on Conan tonight for those interested. I liked the album very much at first but it has had no staying power with me.

First thought when I saw the thread title was Vince Welnick with the GD.

So I guess that Palin bump is gone, huh? -
I've got a 6am flight to Chicago tomorrow for the game. I will be there for less than 24 hours and I have a serious cold. Wish me luck!

Knew that wouldn't take long.... Your favorite band sucks too!

I like latter year Wharf Rats -- really i like all latter year Jerry ballads -- as Jerry's "old man voice" was in full effect and adds to the earnestness of the songs. Although it isn't That early, 10/21/83 is a great version. About 10 years ago I made a "fantasy show" mix (basically my favorite versions of my favorite tunes. Unfortunately, I never noted which versions I pulled for this mix, so I have forgotten which show the Wharf Rat is from. Anyway, I have uploaded to sendspace. If anyone can identify, I'd appreciate it! I'm pretty certain it is from that spring '90 tour. Wharf Rat

I did have a great time! Seeing David Byrne was great and probably the highlight for me. I also really enjoyed Man Man's set especially for seeing the confused looks on much of the crowd's faces. Did take advantage and went stage side for a few sets, but the sound pretty much blows and as a result only the large shows (AT&T and AMD stages basically) are worth it and you have to get there way early to get those spots. It was really dusty at the Fest too.

Joe's Garage is definitely a treasure trove for these sorts of quotes.... "Come on, I'll buy you a pizza." "With a tiny little mustache."

This interests me greatly! Thoughts?

TVOTR, Malkmus, Man Man, Cloud Cult are all neck and neck, but I've had Cloud Cult the longest and therefor it gets the nod based on holding up the longest.

My favorites are the unofficial trilogy of Hot Rats, Waka Jawaka and the Grand Wazoo. Roxy & Elsewhere, the entire YCDTOSA series (though especially #2) and the '88 live albums Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life and Make A Jazz Noise Here. I am biased on the last two because I saw the '88 tour when those were recorded (Broadway the Hard Way is also from that tour). Over-Nite Sensation, Apostrophe and One Size Fits All were the first albums that I got into and therefor I think of them as the most accessible. I am a fan of the more intricate Zappa with less bathroom humor. Your mileage m

Source? Ever hear of Bush's "Ownership Society"? Why do you beat your wife? Yes, Reaganomics did a great job of making (some) Baby boomers wealthy and passing the tab on to the next generation. -

I agree with that. The Internet bubble was bursting. I don't think enough was done mitigate the damage. Clinton certainly bears some responsibility for that. Greenspan was hailed as a genius in those days. Today... not so much. But Bush did no better and I would argue he did much worse. -

I think I've seen the whole thing online, but assumed the "foreign policy" part was aired. Now I'm told it wasn't on the actual broadcast. Is that true? If so, why? -

So that portion of the interview wasn't aired (the Russians in my airspace portion)? If so, why not? -
Only if you vote Obama! Actually my brother is flying from Texas on SouthWest so he won't face much (any?) penalty to change his ticket. I'm on Frontier and would have to pay the difference in a ticket bought a week in advance and one bought same day or the day before. If I can't go, he'll bring a friend in Chicago.

This is my problem with both McCain and Palin. Pro-life is the ONLY reason (IMO of course) that she is on the ticket or anyone is supporting her. McCain reignited the culture wars because he couldn't win without them. It's fine if you're pro-life, I lived in Colorado Springs and worked with and was friends with many ardent pro-lifers. Guess what, we had no issues with each other. I'm not set to rest my country's fate on that one issue, however and it shows me the Maverick McCain that I did respect is long gone. -

Don't worry the next one will start as soon as this one is over and it will be even more absurd! On the shoulders of giants! -

Almost half! Ha! So more than half don't!?! Olbermann is a smug, arrogant asshole, though. -
Sooooo anywho.... I head on Mike & Mike this morning that there is a possibility that if there are multiple rain-outs this weekend due to the impending noreaster, that the start of the playoffs could be delayed. I really hope this doesn't happen. I have tickets to next Thursday's game at Wrigley and I already have my plane tickets. That would totally screw me over.

Unfortunately I think you're right. The bulk of the American public wants someone relatable (how's that been working the past 8 years, America?). I would love to have our leaders be the brightest our country has to offer on the other hand, just as I would hope the CEO of my company knows more about what is going on than I do. My CEO being fun at BBQ doesn't make my options worth more.
