  1. So we've been asked for a "Wilco Tour" for visitors of Chicago who want to see a few of the sights that they might have seen in pictures and movies and record covers, etc. Here's some ideas to keep you busy: * The Marina City Towers from the cover of YHF - (300 North State Street) - Consider taking the Chicago city architecture boat tour downtown and learn something while checking the Marina Towers off your list of Wilco-related sights to see. Dress warm! But I think you can sit inside the boat, too. * If you are wandering around downtown or take the "el" anywhere, the lou
  2. "Pirate Radio" This one looks fun. Rock & Roll music as it's theme, plus what's not to love about Phillip Seymour Hoffman!?! http://www.filminfoc...adio____trailer
  3. Cool that Gary Louris came on board! Sounds like a great show! and "It's Just That Simple" too!
  4. Sondre Lerche. I listened once through the new album and, I can't decide if I like it, must give it some more spins. However - he amazes me in this live video solo performance on KCRW the other day - - his voice is pitch perfect. http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb090924sondre_lerche#idc-container (I was there following a link in the Neil Finn & 7 Worlds Collide thread, so check that one out as well ... worth your time, IMO. )
  5. Jeff, John, & Pat spinnin' some songs (from their ipods and records)
  6. doors open - ? showtime on ticket - 7:30 opening act - 7:30 (usually performs for 45 min) set change - 8:15/8:30 to 8:45/9:00 Wilco onstage something like 8:45/9:00. Well, that's sorta the process in my experience anyway.
  7. Hey, Nodep - We talk about Ryan Adams a lot here, and let's just keep all things RA in one thread. The last thread is sprawling at over 50 pages and we need to start afresh anyway. I'll link them together. So onward with Ryan Adams in general. I'm not very familiar with this Pax Am singles business, so I'm glad you brought it up.
  8. Yeah, no shit. It's too much sometimes, these expectations people set for new music. I really like what they did here, with the exception of 1 or 2 songs, in particular the one with Jim James yowling just a little over-done IMO (and I doooo love MMJ!). I bought it for 7.99 at Best Buy thanks to the helpful tip above from brianjeremy, and I can't wait to spin it today in the car sounding better than listening online, and really looking forward to seeing the show.
  9. Yep, I did ... Micah was so sweet, I bought a couple of their CDs and he hugged me, and then I told him I had a "Fort Wayne Rocks" t-shirt for each guy in the band, and he hugged me again! You know, it's the least I can do when good lil' bands like this agree to play Fort Wayne. Yeah, Two Cow Garage rocked hard! Really fun show. And Jon Snodgrass from Drag The River was along and he was hilarious all night long.
  10. Oh, don't get me wrong - I've certainly gotten good use out of my "bug vacuum" over the years. And I get those silverfish now and then, and those suckers are smashed ASAP. I do NOT like those things! Flies? Flyswatter. And full disclosure about my pet spider: I googled her species to be sure she wasn't a biter, and she is a harmless and unaggressive common house spider. So that's when I decided she could stay, because she was serving a purpose and would not bite me.
  11. My kitchen door has a window in it. The door leads out to the back yard, and my elderly (17-year-old!) cat asks to be let in, let out, let in, let out, dozens of times per day. I oblige, since I work at home, and I'm pretty crazy about that old cat. So when a standard house spider set up making a web in the door's window in early June, and keeps catching a multitude of bugs that get in during each of these cat in&out episodes, I've kept her all summer as my pet, and she has earned her keep.* She has laid many egg sacs, and I have enjoyed watching each "batch" hatch and watched the t
  12. I found some really old ticket stubs from when I lived in LA (and no laughing at who I went to see back then! In 1972 or so I DID see Led Zeppelin, so cut me some slack.) April 3, 1979 - Supertramp at The Forum - $8.75 August 31, 1979 - Sarah Vaughan & LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl - $7.50 Nov 4, 1979 - Hall & Oates at The Roxy - $10.00 Aug 3, 1980 - Billy Joel at The Forum - $12.50 - 8th row floor! Sep 29, 1980 - Monty Python's Flying Circus at the Hollywood Bowl - (oops, no price on the stub) Edited to add: http://www.gogomag.com/tickets/index.html Th
  13. I wonder how many pieces of Bazooka Joe it took to make that perfect round bubble?
  14. I know and agree, By:. Just responding to your post. It's more fun than responding to the OP.
  15. You know, By, it's possible to be a Wilco fan AND feel that this kind of negative rhetoric is boring. Just sayin'.
  16. Here's a link to a SBD of the 9.11 Chicago show at Martyr's I attended ... it was so much fun! And so many Minus 5 songs!!! Plus, a free fruit plate for the crowd! You gotta love Archive.org! http://www.archive.org/details/stevewynn2009-09-11.flac
  17. I had no idea that photo dated back that far (late 1950's? early 1960's?) Great find VC.
  18. Calling Tongue-Tied Lightning Drew!
  19. Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/user/DJbabyanimals#play/all
  20. Perhaps that's what happened. The tag says bitrate 192 kbps, and it is an mp3, and I don't think flac would play on my crappy little work PC Windows Media Player. But maybe it does. I don't know! I miss my high tech but deceased computer. Oh, and I hate to be negative, but I wish they didn't leave the movie voices in the Funeral Singers song, sort of sounds too "Books" for my taste and distracts me. But the song is great. Oh, I LOVE Ape-like Evidence and Alice Marble Gray ... Oh boy
  21. I'm okay with odd. I like odd better than lots of other things. ha But I'm not sure about one song on this download though. SNAKES TOOTH = PROTECTION is 37 sec on playback on WMP and the mp3 is 3343 kb. It seems to stop sort of abruptly (but who knows with Califone?). In comparison, the song Bunuel is 4 min 25 sec and the mp3 is 8684 kb. So Tris ... how does this "SNAKES TOOTH" song length compare with your version? Of course, I'm assuming you got a different version since you've had it a while.
