  1. I didn't realize that musicians played nude in Europe.
  2. I think you should go ahead and take a wee listen to the Isbell. As far as the Kamikazee Hearts, I bought that with an iTunes gift certificate on your strong recommendation around Christmas. Great shit. Now Listening:
  3. New solo Jason Isbell on the myspace page. Great shit.
  4. I hope at least $500k of that is in Tommy's pocket.
  5. There really is no way the guy could meet or exceed expectations. He made his bed.... He'd a been a lot better off putting out an album every other year or so. Anticipation of this nature (not sure that's ever been done in music), couldn't possibly be met with positive reaction. I thought the first 45 seconds that I listened to sounded alright. I pulled out when I got to the Jason Isbell thread and realized that he had songs on his myspace page. Sorry Axl
  6. I have listened to most of the album and didn't care for it too much. The star power on it is strong but I don't think I'll be purchasing it. It doesn't hold up too the better Louvin Brothers stuff. I do agree that the guy deserves much respect. I just don't think it's that strong an offering.
  7. Wow.... is this a 2nd myspace page? I like the tunes. Pumped about seeing him open for Son Volt in Chicago.
  8. Another way to get people on this board to listen (at least this one), is to quote Paul Westerberg on your web page: "The only time I feel peaceful and secure is when I'm holding a guitar. Which is a little bit sad, but it's true. " -- Paul Westerberg Interesting sound.... the recording sounds a bit muddy but that may just be the sound of wet guitar. Good luck at the show. As a side note, I don't believe that most people will universally bash people that post links to their music. I do believe that most people in here have a good sense of what is spam though.
  9. I enjoy: Paul Westerberg Michael Stipe Jeffrey Tweedy Elvis Costello Rod Stewart - when he was good Underrated/little known: Anders Parker - check him out live...he'll blow you away
  10. Jay has always been fairly reserved on stage. As a long time fan, I haven't heard him accused of being "unfriendly" too often though.
  11. c'mon... shy bastard maybe. I'll agree with you on the lyrics though.
  12. 2nd that.... making a living is making a living. This knocks Kelly Clarkson's credibility up a notch as well. She's damn cute and does have a great voice. Despite the massive chin pimple in the picture above, she's purty.
  13. I haven't looked forward to a live act like DBT since the early Wilco days (and maybe Marah). This Dirt Underneath stuff sounds great.....
  14. I'm liking Glen Phillips' new album more than anything since the Toad days. He fills my adult contemporary fix like no other. He's also a damn engaging live act. I'm going to check him out for the first time since Toad next Saturday. Although I like the new Broken West album, I haven't seen 'em live. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy, no? For what it's worth...
  15. This show is 2nd only to the VH1 show with the outcast from Flavor Flav's dating show that now has her own show. Who the fuck would watch that train wreck?
  16. The Bose really is all of that. The sound that comes out of that little thing is just amazing.
  17. Very intrigued... will be great to hear these guys together again. It makes me miss essoxx656609. Would LOOOVVEE to get his input on this collaboration.
  18. I love that album. "Your Favorite Music" would be the next stop in my opinion. Generally, I like just about everything that they have put out. Eef Barzelay also has a solo album which is decent. I don't like it near as much as the Clem Snide releases though.
  19. I'm SOLD!! Thanks guys! Well, it looks like we are going despite the shitty venue and expensive tickets. The good news is that Glen's new album seems to be his best from what I have listened thus far. I hear pretty good things about his live performances. I still wonder why he would choose this place over the countless phenomenal venues in Chicago.
