WOW... I figured it was just an amount of time before they split but I didn't think it would be this soon. That sucks. I was hoping to get a few more albums out of the deal. Tough for 3 songwriters to share a band though. You never see that last too long.

I actually have that chilling in the refrigerator now. I've never actually had it but that won't be the case 2-3 hours from now.

So, I'm reading "Wilco: Learning How to Die"

I can't believe that this is being talked about quite honestly. I haven't read the book and don't plan on it. For whatever reason, I've always felt that a bands personal life is better left personal. I know that Kot was careful to avoid a lot of the kiss and tell stuff. At any rate, nice little interview with Jay in this Chicago Tribune metromix piece: linky -
Yes, very pumped about this one. I like the studio version of "Dress Blues". To be honest, the songs that were on his 'unofficial' myspace page a few weeks back were even better than these. Looking forward to seeing Jason next week.

I HEARD THAT JEFF CALLED JAY A PUSSY!!1 -
I picked this up over the weekend and I think it's one of my favorite albums of his. I'm looking forward to checking him out. He kind of reminds me of Joe Strummer mixed with a bit of Joe Jackson.

Keith Richards is a parody of himself. However, I feel strongly that everyone should snort their father/mother's ashes along with some blow upon either parents demise. Really centers you.

Just got back from Cheesecake Factory. A couple of beers and a crispy pork tendorloin with macaroni and cheese. Good stuff. Saving the actual cheesecake for tomorrow.

Buddy Guy is a legend. Sonny Landreth is great to see live. Los Lobos is a really fun band to see live as well. This line-up is definitely worth seeing. I know nothing of the venue but I'm sure it'll be a great time. Very possible that all of the players from Blind Faith will play together as well. -
The new Son Volt is really good. I've liked what I have heard of the new Wilco album thus far. Other than that, The Holmes Brothers and the Dexateens are the only albums I have bought this year. Not a dud in the bunch.

Not anymore my friend... they stopped late last year. If it's still on the shelf, it's old.
-
I'm not sure what that means.

That's an old picture ction!! Thanks folks! An almost perfect workday: Work, followed by dinner with the family in one of the finest english pubs in town (Salmon and Old Speckled Hen), followed by Connect 4. I WISH I COULD BE 36 FOREVER!!! And, per my normal method of operation, I will move my "official" celebration to the Friday subsequent to the birthdate anniversary. Hopslam can, and will, be involved.

I bought Hardwire Healing when it came out and I think it's very solid. I was trying to keep an eye on them to see when they are swinging through Chicago again.

I will win brackets if anybody but Ohio State wins. Ironically, Ohio State is my favorite team.

I thought Wilco wrote and released this song post-2000 but she clearly did this "cover" version in 1983. How'd that happen?

Here's the show!

I've read about this guy a few times but I haven't really heard him much. Just heard his cover of "Bastards of Young" and I'm not sure what to think. I like the vibe of it and I love the fact that he's covering it.... does his voice always sound like that? How is he overall?

This is one of about 3 bands that I haven't seen that I absolutely need to.... and yet don't. I'm going the next time that they are within a 3-4 state radius and it's a Saturday or something.
-
I'm still in the 90th percentile!! This is, quite honestly, the best that I have ever done in brackets.... and I've won before. I'm feeling pretty good about things right now. I love March.
-
I didn't love that moment but I'm guessing it was due to poor sound quality. When they started playing, it really didn't sound good.... sort of muted. At any rate, it was a great tribute and a great performance by one of the best bands in history.

I sure wish that we could get Harpoon in Chicago.... at any rate, basketball and Dogfish Head aren't a horrible way to spend an evening. 60 Minute
