  1. Great news... I had not heard that. He is really the one player I didn't want to see leave town! edit: knowing full well that some of the team is locked in that is.
  2. with the exception of the cover, I really love this album.
  3. Right, it's a promotional thing for the upcoming Simpsons movie. I've read about it as well. There is at least one in Chicago that is doing the same thing. Pretty funny stuff. It actually gets people talking about 7-11. Good marketing move.
  4. Happy belated b-day. Hope it was a great one.
  5. We went to see it Thursday and it was really solid. Patton was a big part of why the movie was so good. One question, why do so many Disney movies have the mother character dead or non-existent?
  6. Good to hear. I just bought one today. My new iPod wouldn't work with my old iTrip. The only problem with the Belkin is it won't go down to 87.9 like the old one does. That station seemed to work the best for me.
  7. I've lived in quite a few areas but mostly in the city and now in the western burbs. I've seen Robbie about 6 times (once opening for Wilco at a free festival). I saw him at Fitzgeralds on December 30th and it was easily the best I've seen by him.
  8. Yeah, I'm definitely a fan of his. "Let's Kill Saturday Night" and "Georgia Rules" are probably my favorite albums of his. However, seeing him live is a real treat.
  9. Capital Brewery - Blonde Dobblebock.
  10. Hell, there's a lot of ugly rockers but they all get more ass than the majority of us.
  11. 2 things: 1). Bill Berry and Mick Jones don't belong on that list. 2). How is Shane McGowan still alive?
  12. No, I'm with you on that... I'd just rather they play 3-4 nights at The Vic. It's just my least favorite of all Chicago venues. Maybe they should consider a Ravinia show :-)
  13. The Ribfest isn't too bad. The parking isn't great though. Fuck George Thorogood though. The Bottle Rockets are there along with Backyard Tire Fire & the Waco Brothers. The food is absolutely great. This may not be as solid as the SlumBBQ IV but it's better than most street festivals.
  14. I disagree with Elixir Sue on this one. In my opinion, it's the least desirable location for a show. Unfortunately, some bands are a bit too big to play the Riviera or the Vic so they wind up at Aragon. The sound is bad from many of the locations, the concessions and restroom aren't convenient either. I haven't been there in years but every concert that I have gone to there has sucked.
  15. I'm going to take my name out of the hat. Help narrow this down a bit.
  16. I'm in the "mellow masterpiece" camp. Thanks for posting.
  17. I think it's one of Jeff's finest vocal performances as well. Great stuff.
  18. Great to see that Jeff has finally "made it". This is the ultimate goal for every "rocker".
  19. Bell's Oberon - I made a pilgramage to Kalamazoo this weekend to play in Bell's golf outing. Despite the amount of Bell's I ingested on Friday, still able to get after one or two on this beautiful Sunday.
  20. these guys better plow through Chicago.
