LOL, I'm retired and I listen to Wilco all day in my retired t-shirt.

I've always been told that joint custody rarely works, since it means continuing to co-parent the kid(s). That means the parents have to be on extremely good terms with each other, planning together, etc. I can't think of many split couples who can do that. I can't even agree with my ex on basic things like religion and schooling. Maybe if WW talks to a lawyer, they can find enough 'holes in the plot' to recommend filing a motion for full custody? Dunno..just a thought. Her ex clearly broke her trust, especially lying about the plans and making a major care decision unilaterally. That

I wonder how Wilco would sound if their next record had no guitars...

Now that's an interesting scenario, badger. Tweedy always has so much to say in his lyrics, but I think most musicians would agree that accomplishing that with just instruments is maybe a "higher plateau" to aim for. (e.g. Coltrane, Beethoven..) It's gotta be really inspired though. -
Thanks, that's a cool site. Sort of Pandora meets Myspace, I like it. I'm impressed that Wilco is listed as the #2 most popular rock band there!

The band currently has three good-to-virtuoso guitarists, making some splendiferous sounds together. So...... your scenario seems a bit far fetched. -
Predictions for Wilco's Tonight Show appearance?
W(TF) replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
There is something to be said for making a big splash on national TV. Check out The White Stripes on Conan O'Brien: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6WVD3PqeNY...ted&search= Does that rock or what?! Still.....the 'Stripes will never be half the band Wilco is. Never ever. -
Lennon wrote his fair share of feel good songs as well, like Watching The Wheels. That's a song that wouldn't be out of place on Sky Blue Sky, I s'pose. And he wrote some agonizingly painful stuff.. like Cold Turkey. Which probably wouldn't be out of place on YHF.

Oh yeah...My Darling, absolutely. I've read that elsewhere about What Light, but I just don't hear it. I was actually listening to American Beauty yesterday, first time in quite a while. I think it holds up better than a lot of similar stuff from that period.

The best bands never get signed.

Whether it's lyrically, musically, slightly sappy homages to his wife, whatever...it's been often said that Tweedy has a latent Lennon streak in him. What songs do you hear that in, and why? I hear it on Hate It Here, not the chorus but definitely the verses. On And On And On has a real Lennon vibe as well, I think. I know it's about something very personal to Jeff (his mom's death), but I still hear it....maybe the music more than the lyric, but I think it's both. What Light is an obvious one as well. Jeez, you'd think SBS is all I listen to!

I lost some brain cells reading this thread.

Yeah, I should've figured that. Pretty much goes for all Wilco songs donit.

You've successfully downloaded the torrent file, which is basically just a "pointer" reference. Now go get yourself a free torrent client like Azureus, and it'll do the rest for you.

Jeff Tweedy and Ryan Adams should write an album together.

I have a DSLR and had no problem at Aronoff. I called ahead to ask about it. You weren't supposed to use a flash, but of course toward the end of the show all bets are off.

Hmmmm, firstly, your two paragraphs above would seem contradictory, no? Also, I didn't get the feeling the O.P. was trying to be cool. He mentioned a couple of songs he liked, I thought the post was fairly humble. Maybe we can give him/her a break?

The problem with cola beverages is that they go really really well with cigarettes.

Don't forget to pan-melt some good real BUTTER and pound an ounce or two of salt in there as well. Diet Coke? sheet, I live on the stuff. I'm thinking of starting a lobby group to get Cherry Zero imported to Canada...we can't get it here. You lucky bastids.

Interesting... I also like the posthumous 'collaboration' release A Far Cry From Dead a lot.

I think I'll stick with my Sony Vaio Pocket, it's 40GB and I paid a hundred bucks for it, second hand over at head-fi.org. Works well and sounds excellent. Apple makes nice stuff but ridiculously overpriced IMO.

Musically...Townes did folk, country and blues. And did them all extremely well, especially for a completely self trained musician who took up guitar in his 20's.
