I love the "what might have been lost" singalong, although he wisely didn't request it of last night's meandering crowd. I'm anxious for his show in Milwaukee next week because I'm sure he'll have plenty of singers in that crowd.

Great set last night opening for Wilco Indy. They had the addition of a bass player, and some of the new arrangements were outstanding. I thought Blood Bank was great, and it makes me look forward to what else will come from Bon Iver.

It ended up being a beautiful night, with the perfect breeze throughout the show. RTMB was a treat as was Forget the Flowers and, of course, hearing the two new tunes for the first time. I wished we could have gotten the low-back concert chairs out of the way entirely, but it was a nice atmosphere. Johnny, that poster looks great--I look forward to getting one online. For those interested, Bon Iver's opening set was great. I hadn't seen them since January, and they're so much tighter now. They had some new arrangements, the addition of a bass player, and a new song (Blood Bank). D

No, we're in reserved left (Nels), a couple rows back. Are you guys going to be there for Bon Iver (opening act)?
-
We'll be there but probably without much time to spare before the show. I'm always up for a cold beer post-Wilco.

Happy Birthday! Perhaps we'll cross paths in Indy.

Wait, how did the pitch go? Did it make it the entire distance? Or is no one mentioning it out of respect?

Thanks for all of that, Kim. I was gone all afternoon, so it was nice to read a detailed recap.

Hey, no one's too cool to sport Hello Kitty. (But really he's sporting Welcoming Cat, or Fortune Cat to some.) I give first prize Nudie design to John. His is radical. Or nautical, as it were.

No spoilers, please. I'd like to maintain some shred of the live experience when I watch. Thanks!

Yeah, they look like locals.

Oh yeah, and 8/4! (He has a solo show nearby on 8/14, but I momentarily forgot about his opening gig for Wilco in Indy...)

Great review, Michael. I can't wait for 8/14.

I've tried to talk to four or five different people about the "I'll call her..." device in this book because it was so heavy-handed. I hope to see him on his lecture tour this fall, and if the opportunity arises, I'm going to ask him about it. I don't know that his editor forced his hand on it, but I'm sure that it's in response to the Frey/memoir thing. Burroughs has been getting some heat for his "Wolf At The Table," too. I also heard Sedaris on Fresh Air in early June, and he was talking about the painstaking fact checking that happens. For example, he originally wrote that a particula
