  1. That's good to hear. We were at the Walker a week later, checking out the mini golf and watching some live art. I wished we could have rearranged our trip to be there for the shows, but it just wasn't in the cards. That's too bad about the New Pornos--especially since that's the kind of review they've gotten from several other people who've seen them in the last few months. Hopefully both Dan and Neko will be at the Hideout Block Party.
  2. I would love to see Justin et al at First Avenue--I hope you can make it, Solace. How was the Walker show? I'm seeing them open for Wilco in Indy and then headlining the Pabst on 8/14--can't wait for the Pabst especially.
  3. Yep. That's about the cutest puppy I've ever seen. Congrats!
  4. I received my Fair Trade Organic Costa Rican AND Peruvian from Carol--both are Excellent! Mine will be sent Monday.
  5. Along the lines of "old news" and "late to the party," I'm watching an episode from season 1 of Grey's and just heard Hummingbird.
  6. Actually, yes. We scheduled a family vacation to Minneapolis around the 8/14 Wilco show in Duluth last summer, arranged for babysitters for our children while on vacation, had reservations at a B&B near Duluth, etc. I made a last-minute check to the venue website for a street address the afternoon of the show, before hitting the road, and saw that it was canceled--and then rescheduled for a date I could not make. Was I disappointed? Absolutely. And if you go back to the original Charleston thread (but oh-god-please-don't-bump-that-nightmare), you'll see that I was quick to empathize w
  7. Let's be real--they'll never be able to make it up to you. But maybe you can wait to bitch about it until after the fact instead of pre-show and post-show bitching. Based on your avatar, it appears you could consider Bon Iver opening as the "make up" for you.
  8. This has been wholly untrue in every district in which I've taught (the "with support and/or participation" part). Health Education, in my experience and from what I've seen, fails our students miserably. I don't believe schools should provide birth control, but I do believe students should leave the public school system with an understanding of the fertility cycle, ovulation, etc.
  9. Thanks for the link, Kyle. I'm looking forward to seeing them a couple of times in August and seeing how their show has changed since winter.
  10. Happy Birthday! Maybe this is the year we finally cross paths?
  11. Yep. I'm thinkin' you'll be someone's first pick. (You may want to check ebay.)
  12. I love Feast of Wire as well.
  13. Hey Phil! It was a great show--my first time seeing Nels outside of Wilco. Nice venue, great music, great people...good beer, too. Have fun tonight a Matyrs.
  14. See ya, Stewie! All the best!
  15. Happy Birthday, Jamie!! Hope it's fantastic.
  16. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!!! Happy Birthday!
  17. I don't understand all the hate for Shake It Off, either. (Well, unless you were at the show when the audience added "WOOO!" after every Shake It Off. I'd get hating that.) I especially like the scene the opening lyrics paint.
  18. Hey! Rob and I were wondering if you'd shine around. Yeah, he's kind of like a drinking muse, isn't he?
