I hear this as "we can't express." I also noticed those three mentions of "well" during my listen! Interesting.
-
Wow, wish I could be there for that. Any memorable lines from the Jayhawks cover at all? Anything to give us a clue?
-
Sounds fun. I'd be there if I didn't already have plans to be in Canada. Eh?

I'd love to see a Mpls date before the 10KLF, but I doubt it will happen.

I saw him for the first time in Milwaukee and was thinking, "Whoa--there's a lot of business going on there." John Oates-esque: perfect description of the whole package up top.

Did someone mention drinking?
-
Fixed it for you.

Actually, I think he says he isn't certain Jeff is always as unsure as he acts. I'm not sure the authenticity of Jeff's discomfort was in question.

The same was true for me (Ashamed, Flowers, Casino Queen, Box o' Letters--all songs that evoke great memories of specific moments and places). I thought the setlist for night 2 was fantastic, particularly Hell Is Chrome as an opener and I'm A Wheel as a closer. And then Mountain Bed, She's A Jar... Of course, I think my much-improved seats for night 2 vs. night 1 had a lot to do with my overall impression that night 2 was far superior, too. I had forgotten about the revised jean jacket smell, so thanks for the reminder. And didn't he tag "and baby food" to the end of "Band-aids and

Interesting. I said after the show that if last night was the night of drunk talkers, tonight was the night of sloppy love. I guess I was more right than I imagined. (Lots of make-out sessions happening around me...) Great show. Must sleep.
-
Oh, damn it! Clearly I can't be on setlist duty tonight.
-
Yep, I meant "Box Full of Records." I'm going to blame it on the 4.5 hours of sleep. Thanks for fixing it. I have seen Pat use the phone before, and actually last night I made a point of watching for him to grab it but thought he didn't have it. Of course, I could hardly see Pat all night.

First, the Brewers thing: people weren't booing, they were saying, "BREWWWWWWWWW!" Thanks for the pics--the hat kept sinking lower until Nels popped it to the top of Jeff's head during Kingpin. It was a nice night at the Pabst, and I always forget what an intimate venue it is. And what a loud venue it is--you can hear everyone, even people 10 rows away, which of course contributes to the "talking" problem other posters are referencing. We were off to the side, about midway back, and it really wasn't bad there. However, I can see how even a handful of talkers in your vicinity could eff

And still anemic in appearance. -
Maybe, but they have two Milwaukee shows this week (!!!) and will be on the West Coast through 6/30.

Wow. I had totally repressed that memory. Chappaquidittch? Was Ted Kennedy in Harry Potter?

I thought some of the other backing vocals sounded higher than usual as well, but Jeff confirmed they were either John and/or Pat. How was the duet with Feist? I loved it. In fact, it's one of the songs I haven't been able to stop thinking about since Saturday. I really can't wait to hear the album again. I had a tremendous time, and let me tell you why... I was overwhelmed by the warm atmosphere and hospitality that surrounded the weekend and all of the people who were so happy just to be around each other. The music that followed the show-proper was a blast (the bruise on m

I'm also too tired to express myself coherently right now, but it was a sensational night. There were many highlights, and I look forward to seeing the set list to remind me of some of them. I was excited for the album to be released before, but after hearing it last night, the 2.5 month wait feels excruciating. I agree with Brianne: I don't think it sounds like SBS. I also don't think it gives off a "strong country vibe" as Rolling Stone suggested. I love Sky Blue Sky, and I love what I heard last night. They are not, however, alike.
