pretty great show last night in Mpls, and while i don't think they SUFFERED from only being the core 4 members, having the strings and horns would have certainly added a lot (especially to the new songs), that's for sure. probably would put it at #3 out of the 5 shows i've seen first 30-45 minutes was way too mellow for my tastes though. was really hoping they'd kick it off with a few of the uptempo songs from the new album, but they saved all that for the last 45-60 minutes (which was the highlight and pretty brilliant). the sheer amount of confetti during 'Gobbledigook' was amazing, i ha

at the moment: Dear Science, Fleet Foxes and April are up there though

the new album, 'Furr' ^^ is absolutely killer i'm guessing you heard the title track, as the Current is playing the shit out of it

pretty good band... sadly the debut full length, while decent, pales compared to their earlier EP's

Blink-182's Travis Barker critical injured in a plane crash...
solace replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
i hung out w/ Travis about a decade ago when my college put on a show with Blink and Less Than Jake, dude was seriously the nicest and most down to earth rock star i'd met at the time... on the other hand, Mark & Tom were the most annoying, immature, and perverted dudes i'd ever met. they had no shame in trying to get 14-15 year old girls to show them their tits while on their bus... regardless what you think of Blink 182's music, pretty sad... amazing that he and DJ AM were the only 2 survivors -
i was going to hit them at Lolla, but they were taken off the schedule a few weeks before... turns out they ended up playing the mainstage in place of Holy Fuck on Saturday (very first band on the main stage), even the schedules handed out and the big schedules around the Lolla grounds didn't have Noah listed

great band, bummed they're not hitting up Mpls on their tour, but i'm seeing Laura tomorrow with Johnny Flynn

i see about 1 McCain lawn sign for every 20-30 here in Minneapolis, but have yet to see a SINGLE McCain bumper sticker, meanwihle i've seen 100's of Obama ones (including on my car). yet there's STILL quite a few Bush '04 (and a few lingering Kerry) stickers
-
haha, after the Lipstick on a Pig comment, i'm sure they'll definitely try and paint the "old boys network" comment about McCain's age no doubt

Ray LaMontagne "Gossip In The Grain" Sept. 9th
solace replied to redpillbox's topic in Someone Else's Song
ouch... i thought the last one was pretty damn dull and a HUGE step down from Trouble, so that is not good news for me that Meg White tune is horrendous tho -
curious if the mix for that is different, i think the one i have may be a rough/early version sounds nice whatever it is tho
-
what do you think? scored a copy of it a couple weeks ago from a friend, pretty lame it got pushed back to January tho it's a lot more Creek Dipper-ish than i'd have liked... was hoping for more Jayhawks-esque harmonies, but it's still great to hear them harmonize together again (even if Gary's voice has held up better through the years)
-
ah, some reason thought that was on Fri/Sat have only heard 2 songs from the new Ray but one was great and one was awful so far. should be in my mailbox soon i'd imagine (my mail is delayed a few days as it's still being fw'd)

where was that show at??
