  1. the one bad thing about the Gorge is it's so far from Seattle and there's no way to get there besides car really. i hate festivals, but i think i could probably tolerate Sasquatch (as long as it's not hot)
  2. yes, i've had the album for a few weeks now, i think it's fantastic and might be their best yet (easily their most diverse record). honestly, before Magic Potion, Thickfreakness was my least favorite. it's got some great rockers, but i don't find it's songwriting as strong as Rubber Factory. The Big Come Up will always have a special place, since it was what got me hooked on them, but it's prolly my 3rd fave now after Attack & Release and Rubber Factory. this album, while it's more "hi-fi" than their first 2 records, is hardly "produced" or glossy. as for running out of ideas, that's w
  3. dudes... lets stop this stupid notion that people get PAID to perform on SNL & Late Night TV... please? do people honestly think this??????????
  4. there is bass guitar on much of this album... and Steve Albini is SO SO overrated as a producer, sorry if the track on their myspace you're referring to is Strange Times... it's the only song that sounds even remotely like that.
  5. i didn't mind the big orchestra swell... it wasn't very audible during the rest of the song anyway
  6. usually, yeah. it's not that that record was bad, but i loved Big Come Up SO much, that i was let down a lil, and then Rubber Factory kicked out the jams
  7. Thick is great, but before Magic it was my least favorite (something has to be right?)
  8. Magic Potion wasn't a step down necessarily, but other than Your Touch it kinda lacked the great rockers of the other records, and some of the slower stuff i found somewhat dull. Rubber Factory, followed very closely by the Big Come Up were my favorite before this one. their sound on this one is very mature, and i love the extra added instruments/layers. makes me wonder if they'll employ a bassist/keyboardist for the tour though...
  9. i think it's probably their best all around album yet to be honest...
  10. apparently the rip going around is a shitty 128kbps (i haven't heard that rip myself), sucky :/
  11. ATDI amazing... first Sparta record? enjoyable, after that, eh first TMV EP? pretty good... they've gotten pretty bad since then
  12. i much prefer the Frames, but yeah, been a big fan of Swell Season since their album came out in early '06. i actually didn't LOVE the movie the first time i watched it in the theater, which surprised me considering how much i loved the SS album. Molly, do you not believe me? they sent it out to the Frames mailing list last week, it's also on the Once myspace page now
  13. last 2 tracks are just stunning Oceans & Streams might be their best song yet
  14. agree to disagree then i guess tons of reviews of the album/song have mentioned it as well, so i know i'm not the only one who is crazy
  15. it is a bummer that they had to postpone it for so long though... but like others pointed out, that means they will indeed play some more shows this summer
  16. is that it? do you not like Dylan? if so, that makes all the sense in the world now...
  17. this and the Constantines are definitely my fave records so far this year
  18. oh i am giving them a break (i was kidding above, if you couldn't tell) but that wouldn't be my first course of action is to go on the largest Wilco forum and complain/whine, that's all.
  19. Seeds & Thanks then? that settles it
  20. dude of the 1000's of shows i've seen, i've had so many concerts here in Minneapolis rescheduled (and many outright CANCELLED) so that bands could play on SNL, Conan, Letterman, etc. Doves, Kings of Leon, Queens of the Stone Age, etc. trust me, i know it sucks, but i got over it...
  21. no, it was. Jeff told me he hates everyone who was attending the Charleston show.
  22. indeeed. they weren't during the filming though
