  1. boy you're just a bundle of Joy aren't you, i bet you're the life of the party
  2. tom has already said he's quite excited to hear it
  3. man this is fucking GOOD. can't wait for the proper Doomtree full length this spring/summer.
  4. the first song i heard them do was that Richard & Linda Thompson cover linked above, and while musically it's fantastic, and Matt sounds great, Zooey's voice in that song is super monotone and frankly quite dull, but the other 3 songs i've heard them do since then have been great. this is gonna kick ass
  5. and that was just for the photo op version, he didn't use the Koran in his actual swearing in.
  6. only the last 2 stunk, Up had some fantastic songs, and Adventures is a top 5 REM album for me (prolly top 3) i think this new one may surprise some people...
  7. eh, compared to most indie labels here in the US, Rough Trade were huge anyway
  8. such a killer record... really hope album #3 (sounds like it'll be out soon) is better than the second one :/
  9. and for me that is one of the most annoying songs not only on the record, but also that i've heard this year
  10. i'd forgotten that Heath and Ben Harper were close friends... he directed one of Ben's videos 2 years ago:
  11. hmm... all the things i've read said he was found with pills at his side...
  12. and just last night my supervisor (who is actually a few months younger than me (29), had an Aortic Dissection... he's doing ok, but the statistics surrounding those aren't too great
  13. Thompson drops out woohoo
  14. i've had it about a month and a half now sorry, i listen to Hot Chip for their dancy stuff not slow jams/ballads :/
  15. preaching to the choir, but easily At Dawn it's the best Neil Young album he never released
  16. doesn't even compare remotely to The Warning (or even the first one for that matter) for me... far too many mellow/slow/chill ballads and only a few uptempo songs. the only track i'd put on par w/ the best of The Warning tracks is 'One Pure Thought'. not that i'd consider Hot Chip great songwriters, but the songwriting & lyrics were much much stronger on the last. there's some downright horrendous lyrics on here.
  17. yep, new album out in April i believe. The Pixies, other than possible future live shows (doubtful) are once again laid to rest, not surprisingly.
  18. not bad... but still nothing really that has me buying my plane ticket: Friday Headliners: Jack Johnson the Verve Ranconteurs --------- The Breeders Fatboy Slim Madness Tegan and Sarah The National Slightly Stoopid Stars Battles Minues the Bear Spank Rock John Butler Trio Cut Copy Professer Murder Porter American Band Saturday Headliners: Portishead Kraftwerk Death Cab for Cutie Cafe Tacuba (main stage) ------ Sasha and Digweed Rilo Kiley Dwight Yokam M.I.A. Hot Chip Cold War Kids Mark Ronson Teenagers VHS or Beta Little Brothers Sebastian Sunday Headliners: Roger Waters Love a
  19. yep. so far there's nothing that screams "GET THERE" about this years for me: Coachella 2007 Line-Up Announced The indie-rock kids of Coachella are in store for a classic-rock moment this April: Roger Waters of Pink Floyd will re-create the band
  20. new track! http://stereogum.com/archives/mp3/new-jose...emi_007796.html it's easily better than ANYTHING off his last album, and as good if not better than most off Nuclear Daydream. sounds like he's returned to his roots (at last on this track anyway), as it's pretty stripped down acoustic + harmonica along w/ some other subtle flourishes. sure hope the rest of the EP (and maybe the other EP's) is/are this good
  21. it's playing at the Zoo's Imax here in the Twin Cities. we're gonna give away 30 tickets starting later today
  22. oh shit... leaked huh? can't wait that new Hayden is pretty sweet. his last one didn't do a ton for me, but his first few are fantastic
  23. it's just chock full of slow ballads... not exactly what i want to hear from them (Colours excluded, that song rules) i only felt like just over 1/2 of The Warning was great, but the great songs were truly great, so far this has maybe 2 songs that can compare to those.
