then you just misunderstood me then... i wasn't saying that those of us who love it are obviously on some "higher plane" or anything silly like that, i just asked TheMaker to consider that maybe people just connect with certain artists/records differently (i know it may be a "duh" statement, but many people tend to forget or ignore that fact), and if you don't, then you just don't, no harm no foul. if you truly want someone to explain what you feel you might be missing, then ask it straight away, don't beat around the bush about it. i'm not gonna go into every M.I.A. thread and ask "what the

have you ever read TheMaker's posts before? if anyone else had posted that, i would have probably posted something more in depth, but his reasoning is often just to state "wow, i can't believe people like that as much as they do, what idiots", etc., thus my facetious reply. all he had to do to get a decent response was post a decent and honest question like "wow, people here REALLY seem to like/connect with this album, can you explain to me what you like so much about it?" or even "What am i missing?", instead of "wow, i mean... it's ok... it's a pretty average album, but people here REALLY

hey, i got an idea... maybe people connect with it on a completely different emotional level than you do? it's a pretty absurd notion, but i'm just throwing it out there... * p.s. if you're tired of hearing about this album now, just wait until next year after it's released wide * p.p.s. read about the album, it made even more sense and impact once i did that after hearing it.

if it makes you feel any better i didn't hear it until like 2 weeks ago myself. dunno if it'll make a huge dent in my EOY list, but 2080 is a killer single.
-
right, which just means that he either ran out of ideas, got lucky, or got lazy Matt wrote I Go To The Barn and St. Augustine
-
agreed... take out the innane lyrics to LRC and it's a killer tune.

the melodies and songwriting on EATT are far far stronger, and that's likely due to the fact that Matt Brooke was also a co-writer on a lot of that album and wrote a few songs. the new album only features Ben as the returning member from the first album. there's not a single song on the new album that touches the majestic of The Funeral or Great Salt Lake. also, Is There A Ghost is an OK song, but honestly, look at the lyrics sometime... it's the same 3 lines over, and over, and over, and over and over. the General Specific is indeed a great song, as is Islands On The Coast. the one song t

what she said... Cease is very good... EATT is great

Bruce or Fogerty will win. if Daughtrey wins someone should shoot in him the face. nah, just do it anyway. and yeah, that Plain White T's song is so so awful
-
excited to finally see them! i skipped them in '00 @ First Ave so cool they're playing the Entry this time

a few of the Cooley tracks in those 19 samples sound kinda like bad 80's country :/

she sings backup on Jason's record and sounds quite good *shrug*

ah... wonder if it's just a typo here then. although i wouldn't mind hearing him play Razor Town & The Magician solo again
-
yeah, that's the one, nice
-
i believe those ones w/ Will Hoge are all solo too at least here it's not billed with the 400 Unit. crazy, this will be the 4th time i've seen him here in Mpls since May of this year. not that i'm complaining mind you.
-
which OOP solo album are you referring to? The Ballad of the Red Shoes? if so, that's a 15 minute instrumental EP, i wouldn't count that as an album really.

30 sec previews http://www.amazon.com/Brighter-Than-Creati...3103&sr=1-1 track by track breakdown by Patterson: http://www.drivebytruckers.com/writeup_btcd.html samples sound pretty decent so far, hard to say i suppose. lotta songs though, wow... maybe too many to be honest. the songs with Shonna on lead vocals sound really nice.
-
no, the guitar riff is nearly the same as an L7 song, i can't think of which one off the top of my head, that's all i was referring to.
-
Freedom Park is a great song... HOWEVER, the studio version of Freedom Park with the "shimmy shimmy cocoa puff" female vocals is so cheesy and annoying
-
ah man... the stuff they did w/ Matt Sharp on the last record is great imo. but then again i'm a fan of catchy indie pop too (see: Georgie James) fucking LOVE this song from a few albums ago: i prolly like it so much because musically it reminds me of L7 edit: also, hot Canadian lesbian twins? come on
-
the new Tegan & Sara is pretty hit or miss, but they've put out some pretty great/catchy indie pop records in the past. I Hear Noises is a kickass song but i'm guessing you take issue w/ their voices like my wife does

they both would have been headlining a day... Bonnaroo is 3 days
