i don't think Golden Smog are that keen on taping, thus no mic stands. i'd imagine there was 1-2 people stealth taping
-
Danny had to preface it by saying "and it's not about Ryan Adams either!"

looks fantastic -
honestly i didn't even miss Jeff one iota last night... like you said, it's great when he can make it, but hardly suffers from his lack of being there.

ah, not sure then, try contacting the Electric Fetus (www.efetus.com), maybe if you buy it through them even online, they'll ship you one. -

Kraig's voice almost ALWAYS sounds good the versions of Revolution that he does w/ his own band The Program are better though imo, Kraig usually goes to town on the guitar, but last night didn't even bother w/ Gary & Danny (Perlman playing Kraig's electric) playing on it -
i've seen them 3 times, all for like $8-14 or so. 400 Bar twice and Fine Line, the first 400 Bar show (for Her Majesty) was fantastic, the 2nd one was decent, and the Fine Line show they totally got their ass handed to them by Okkervil River. it doesn't help that i found the last record to be a bit of a let down from the previous 2 (still had some great songs though) imo they're not even in the same REALM as Wilco, but then again i don't think Wilco are in some super high tier echelon really either... i think i'm just kinda tired of The Decemberists' schtick... and not to be all "OMG IM

haha, no idea what that one was, maybe off that new EP? -
guess i should be lucky they're still @ First Ave here, but unless the album bowls me over, i'm not up for spending $20 to see 'em. i didn't even go last time at First Ave.

srsly... i listened to the vinyl all weekend (has 2 extra tracks), it's amazing... if it said 1974 on the copyright i wouldn't be able to tell the difference...

New Golden Smog... Smog Story poster?????

was really great... few tech problems early on, causing Gary to be in a bit of a grumpy mood some, but all in all it was a fantastic show. a lot longer than i expected too, well over 2 hours. few great covers, Tarpit by Dinosaur Jr., Starman by Bowie (old GS classic cover), and a smokin' ver of Neil's Revolution Blues -
sure hope this new record is really good...

it's a fantastic album anywho, they were selling them at the shows for $5, but most indie stores should have copies, check the list of CIMS stores here's a high res jpg tho http://www.losthighwayrecords.com/site/gol...story_hires.jpg -
hmm.. you sure you didn't download the early unmixed/unmastered leaked version of Nobody's Darlings? cuz that one did sound a bit weak, but i have zero problem w/ the overall production on the final version, def not muddy at all. i like it a lot but it ain't bowlin' me over like the last 3 have to be honest... i kinda feel similiarly about it as i did w/ the new DBT it seems... the organ/keys are a nice addition, but they overdo it a bit at times, and the early Springsteen influence is pretty obvious, right down to the piano on the first song apeing Born To Run. def a really great recor

hmm... that Midlake record sounds pretty fucking American to me... yes it sounds like Fleetwood Mac plenty at times, but Fleetwood had a very much American sound a lot of the times anyway. but yeah, the melodies are just absolutely gorgeous, sorry you're not feeling it Rich

Tim's album is fantastic, glad i finally have a real copy of it now. i think they cleaned it up some from the self-released version from last year. the vinyl has 2 extra songs too
