honestly, even though they're not amazing live, they blow the shit out of The Shins live IMO. every band sounds like another band, and often not as good, so i don't really take much stock in that i guess. The Funeral is still one of my favorite songs of the year hands down.
-
i'm w/ Essox on this one, it is a really great debut record and they're a lot of fun live. maybe if you don't like MMJ, The Shins, Built To Spill, or Mercury Rev, the 4 bands they remind me of most...
-
you need to hear more albums if you truly think that, i can name plenty more boring, the new Ray LaMontagne for one.
-
also, whoever said they hated Echo? i just said that save for a few songs it didn't hold my interest too much. i haven't really hated any Petty record. and i like Cabin Down Below, was fun live in St. Paul

in concert Ben sits down and plays pedal steel for a majority of the show.

that statement cannot be "true" or "false", ever hear of personal opinion? just like your OPINION that Jay is a better guitarist than Nels, you're more than entitled to it. been a pretty big fan of Petty all of my life but those ones save for a couple songs on each just didn't hold my interest enough to warrant many listens. there's nothing to "get", i don't care if it's sad or if the lyrics are meaningful/important. Petty's never been one that i come to for great lyrics honestly.

i really really like I Can too
-
guess we'll have to beg to differ on both of those records then
-
the best track, Murphy's 'Hurricane', is towards the end, but i like the whole thing. then again it sounds like a Kraig solo record for the most part and i love his solo stuff.

thank you!
-
it's pretty decent, i got a promo of it a few months back so i won't be buying it. Dancing On The Lip of a Volcano (feat. Michael Stipe) frickin' rules tho
-
i didn't like the single at first, now i like it a lot
-
hoping i can make the Mpls show, i missed them there in '03, haven't seen them since opening for The Shins in '04 (short set)
-
it doesn't like you either, so all is well
-
Double Vinyl is also out today!

The Last DJ pretty much sucked, sorry, and i'm a pretty big Petty apologist. The sentiment and concept of it were great, but the songs just bored me to death other than maybe 2 songs. Echo had a few great songs, but overall was just really bland. how many times have you heard this new one yet? if you just downloaded it, keep listening. have been listening a bunch since it leaked late Friday night, it only gets better.

i'll send you a PM later lotta good records out next Tue to wait for: White Whale, Midlake, Silversun Pickups, Sleepy Jackson, NY Dolls
-
add Flirtin' With Time to that list, that melody is now stuck in my head
-
not off iTunes anyway, save your $$ i'd say
-
i've seen her before (w/ Feist playing w/ her as well), quite amusing to say the least.
-
that's what it could definitely use more of, is some guest MC'ing
-
love it
-
oh i disagree, Square One, Turn This Car Around, Big Weekend, This Old Town, all really great songs i like all but maybe 1 or 2 songs a ton myself
-
it starts to lose my interest by the end, but not bad for his first solo effort. fans of Shadow/RJD2 should dig it
