  1. i just really don't like to see bands in venues bigger than 1500-2000 or so, kinda "been there done that" i guess. there's a few exceptions to the rule, but not many.
  2. i think that's probably part of my dislike of festivals... is being stuck in the middle of nowhere and having to camp amongst a shit ton of people. that's one benefit of Lolla & Pitchfork, you can stay in a hotel.
  3. i dig a bunch of the recent additions: The Gaslight Anthem Blitzen Trapper Calexico Mumford & Sons The Dodos John Butler Trio LCD Soundsystem Kris Kristofferson
  4. festivals are horrible. that said, of that lineup i only dig: The Avett Brothers John Fogerty Phoenix The xx Wale Jay-Z She & Him Dr. Dog The National John Prine Dave Rawlings Machine Local Natives Manchester Orchestra Tenacious D The Black Keys The Melvins not a bad lineup, but not overly exciting (yet) either
  5. they're pretty fun live, but i'd go in with low expectations...

  7. don't expect a tour ever... they've played a handful of shows the last 5-6 years tho
  8. certainly different than their last one, but i love it still. think Gaslight Anthem meets Desaparecidos
  9. def one of the albums best tracks... these line SLAY me:
  10. it's a pretty solid record. i saw them a while back when they were still called The Muslims and again @ SXSW last year as The Soft Pack, they're a fun live band.
  11. current plan is August/September for touring to ramp up, that's all the more details i really know right now
  12. i know right? funny thing is, i didn't even check out the record until late November myself, even though I saw them open for Langhorne Slim @ the 400 Bar in October. they're really great live too. gonna see them a week from tomorrow with Cory Chisel & Jason Boesel.
  13. yep. plus they've extended the length of the Friday hours, so that seems likely. wonder if they'll play a full album if they play Friday maybe?
  14. w00t kind of insane that it leaked the 2nd week of November, but it's still by far my favorite thing this year too (and would have been my #1 last year to be honest). the only thing i've heard so far this year that comes close is the new Besnard Lakes and an album called 'Related' by Gayngs.
  15. yeah, i know some people prefer it (my wife included), but i can tell you that the overwhelming majority of Arcade Fire fans prefer Funeral. you know i'm the biggest AF fanboy around, but that album wasn't even in my top 5 of 2007 (think i had it around #7 or #8), whereas Funeral is in my top 5 of the decade. i was just saying that while it's a really great record, i know they'll have no problem topping it for me.
  16. i'm guessing it's a little favor from when FOX used an un-authorized short clip of 'No Cars Go' on the Super Bowl a few years ago. they threatened lawsuit but things sorta just died off. as for "hard to top Neon Bible"... i guess i'd have to disagree with that. I'll be sadly disappointed if they don't.
  17. with a new album out this summer and tour in the fall, I figured it couldn't hurt to have an "official" thread for the band (surprised there wasn't one already)... anywho, this is pretty neat:
  18. yeah... great song and her voice has lost most any/all of the squaking/shreiking she used to do. it's amazing how she's gone from her voice being unlistenable to me on the first album to digging Y's quite a bit, to being pretty damn excited for this new album. (although i'm a bit unsure i'll listen to a 3 disc album that often)
  19. i've probably given it a good dozen spins now and it just hasn't taken like Darling. it's not BAD, just like a 6.5-7/10 album for me i guess :/. Still excited to see her again in February K'Naan is pretty great, esp. live.
  20. not quite a done deal... but sounding very promising
