he teaches a comedic writing class every other year at the University of Minnesota and i used to work for the English dept 2 years ago when he last taught, he was actually pretty nice to deal with on a personal level to be perfectly honest... in fact I actually talked to him the week of Wilco's last appearance and mentioned how huge of a Wilco fan I was. He said he and the crew were all pretty excited to have them on finally.

All or None is def the best song on RA, no question there. Cropduster i can't really stand, but it's rare that i ever like Matt Cameron songs (You Are is abysmal). i do agree the b-sides kickass, all 3 of those are better than like 80% of what actually made the album.
-
the production on all of their post '00 records so far has sucked, no question there. hoping Brendan at least helps in that aspect on Backspacer
-
far as i know, no. the 3 song iTunes EP is all i've seen (which i'll be honest, i like the title track, but the other 2 songs = notsogood )

sorry, Riot Act is far and away my least favorite (and seems to be somewhat of a consensus on The Sky I Scrape) :/ honestly Pearl Jam haven't put out a truly great album since Yield 11 years ago, i've lost most of my faith, but we'll see. not heard anything TOO amazing from this new one yet.
-
fantastic. i actually was wondering if that might happen, it lined up with their touring nicely. lucky folks!

scored tix for Halloween Philly show this morning, so we'll be at the Fri & Sat shows i almost guarantee that Bruuuuuuuce will show up for one of them also: 30 second preview of Supersonic (the b-side of The Fixer and also on Backspacer) http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Fixer/dp/B002L...3212&sr=8-4 even just from the clip i like it way more than The Fixer. sounds like The Ramones meets The Cars. not sure what's up with Ed and his "yeah yeah"'s on this record tho

probably a top 10 PJ song for me... if not def top 15-20

SUFJAN TO TOUR WITH CRYPTACIZE IN FALL One of our favorite things around here is seeing our artists meander around the country spreading great music, so you can imagine our giddiness when two of our artists decided to pal up and tagteam an east-of-Lake-Minnentonka tour. The team? Sufjan Stevens and Cryptacize. Click more to read details. We wanted to make this as equitable for all of the fans so there are a few things to read carefully here. Due to the sizes of the venues, tickets will be limited. With that in mind, we wanted to avoid ticket scalpers and ensure that as many fans as possib

just a heads up, my music blog/website is giving away a copy of Archives Vol. 1: http://morecowbell.net/2009/08/07/neil-young-archives-vol-1-giveaway/ deadline is next Friday (August 14th) at Midnight

yep. 4/27/02 Schnectady, NY is my favorite version. up until the abomination that appeared on AGIB, Spiders was one of my all-time favorite Wilco songs. i'd kill for a studio version of those early '02-03 ones some day.
-
agreed. just because you find the mono versions vastly superior doesn't mean we should all discount anything we've heard the last 30 years.

were you listening to the clips on Amazon? honestly those sounded identical to the old CD releases to me. wouldn't surprise me if they weren't actually sourced from the remasters yet cuz they haven't sent out ANY sort of promos and are pressing them very late to avoid leaks. i'll wait until i hear the ACTUAL things first before i decide if i want to buy or not. edit: nevermind, i see they updated with the ACTUAL remastered clips now on the Beatles Amazon frontpage. those sound waaaaaay better.
-
eh, debateable. what are you buying these for then if not simply the improved sound quality? the Anthologies were for all the bonus tracks/collectors, not these. i mean fuck i think i own at least 4 copies of The White album honestly.
-
i'm buying them for the upgraded sound quality, that's it. i don't care about any bonus material in this instance, so as long as they sound good, no way i'll feel ripped off. it's The Beatles, they're worth it no matter.

The Swimming Hour is def his best Bowl of Fire-era record great stuff
-
they did some remodeling this summer already but i don't know if it involved the main auditorium. but you're right, the full remodel won't be done until 2011 http://www1.umn.edu/umato/building.html
-
i'm actually glad they're not on the same disc. nothing bugs me more than re-issues that mess with the original tracklisting (yeah i realize you can stop it after the original tracklist ends, but still) i'd prefer all re-issues never fuck with the original tracklist and include any bonus tracks, etc. on extra discs.

4800, but i think with the recent remodeling it holds less
