  1. damn... i changed Via's frontpage in tribute sad sad deal... i'll have to d/l Summerteeth from my home computer and listen tonight
  2. agreed. regardless if he was still working with them or not, someone there would have gotten word long before any of us.
  3. i always found it kind of ironic that his last show with Wilco was 7/4/01 in Grant Park, exactly 10 years after the very last Replacements show in Grant Park...
  4. i know Nate personally, any of his info is coming from either SOMB (most likely), Via, or Twitter edit: yeah, SOMB http://soundopinions.org/forum/index.php?s...20&start=20
  5. i don't suppose anyone happens to have a higher resolution version of this photo of Jay? http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:Sc16Mf...ett1_medium.jpg the original site that the 800px version was on no longer exists and it's not cached
  6. has anyone actually posted a link to this mysterious NYT obit? the only Jay Bennett obit on there i could find was from 2003: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/02/classifi...nett-jay-i.html
  7. it was talked about on Twitter and the Wiki prior to that post. and let us not forget that Twitter also said that Patrick Swayze died this past week too (he didn't) not saying it may not prove to be true (let's sure hope not), but we've all seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off right?
  8. the very first mention of this on Twitter is this: http://twitter.com/aaronleetasjan/statuses/1906388605 (has since been deleted) but it said: aaronleetasjan God Bless Jay Bennett. He will be forever in our hearts. about 2 hours ago from txt prior to that, there were no mentions of it on Twitter... also, a lot of the other people who twittered about it shortly thereafter have all deleted their posts about it as well.
  9. his voice made me cry (in a bad way)... SOOO bad. neither of the finalists were any good imo tho
  10. lyrically i can't say i ever felt that strongly either way about Tim's (neither great nor bad), so i'll probably agree with you there. Mark's always been the strongest lyricist in the band. the opening track (These Things?) still kills me... that song sounds like a stroll in Paris
  11. not for me... that record is timeless to me. sounds like it could have come out in 1974. plus i just love his voice to death as well (honestly, dig it more than Mark's on his solo & Creekdippers stuff)
  12. App is live: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...678801&mt=8
  13. yup... easily the best thing put out outside of the Jayhawks catalog. i've heard he's been working on some stuff, so maybe in the next year or so
  14. Okkervil River are opening the following shows: June 25 Los Angeles, CA Wiltern Theatre w/ Wilco June 26 Saratoga, CA The Mountain Winery w/ Wilco June 27 Berkeley, CA Greek Theatre w/ Wilco June 28 Stateline, NV Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena w/Wilco June 30 Jacksonville, OR Britt Pavilion w/ Wilco July 03 Morrison, CO Red Rocks Amphitheatre w/ Wilco
  15. and Will Ferrell as the guest... hopefully one of the new songs features the cowbell
  16. so this rules... new Pearl Jam song(s) in 2 weeks http://www.pearljam.com/news/pearl-jam-sch...9brien%E2%80%9D PEARL JAM SCHEDULED AS MUSICAL GUEST FOR JUNE 1ST PREMIERE OF
  17. check out 'Two Weeks' off their new album which is out next week: (that's from last summer tho, it was unreleased at the time) the new record is pretty fantastic... i wasn't fully on board with Yellow House, enjoyed 3-4 songs, but found it just pleasant if not kind of dull in spots. this new one is something special though. i've seen them live twice before, once headlining and once opening for TVOTR, they're usually more energetic live too (drummer is fantastic)

    Anvil

saw it last Friday and if that wasn't cool enough, Anvil played live as the credits rolled and did 4-5 songs
  19. hmm... i think it's allowed in only certain forum sections on purpose, but i'll check on which
  20. it leaked via mp3s prior to the stream is what i meant, sorry that was confusing at first
  21. not a big surprise, Wilco and Apple have had a pretty incredible relationship over the years (pre-iPod even) looks cool! i'd imagine it will be free
