  1. "So, because the guy didn't have insurance, he has to be the other guy's butler!"
  2. That reminds me, I have some shirts to order.
  3. I don't understand how Francona can continue to use him in close games. Last night was a joke.
  4. Eric Gagne is a _ _ _ (space) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (space) _ _ _ _ , and I'd like him off "my" goddamn baseball team.
  5. Not much, that's why you mail the guy a box full of poo.
  6. The appropriate response to that particular move is a "Ron Cey".
  7. This was a Kerry speech, right? I'm assuming the kid was part of the Reagan Youth.
  8. 3 - Dark Days Coming This album came out posthumously (of course, it was on Dischord where bands broke up every week) in the late '80s, and was a great blast of melodic, almost Beatle-esque style punk rock. Geoff Turner really wrote song great songs, which definitely stood out in a scene that hadn't necessarily been known for its sense of melody. Before 3 (and after), Turner was in Gray Matter (2 of his other 3 GM bandmates were also in 3, along with Jeff Nelson of Minor Threat) who I guess may have been slightly better known...but not by much. The standout track is "Swann Street", which
  9. I don't have a problem with it either. The dumbass was practically wrestling with the police as they tried to escort him out.
  10. I don't normally read VIBES threads, but I read this one. And will send vibes when I finish my bagel.
  11. I can't wait to see your behind the scenes documentary on the first season of the television adaptation.
  12. Yes, although I may be a few minutes late, as I have a very important meeting at 5:30.
  13. Without a doubt I'd go with 1:32-1:36 of "She's a Jar". What about you?
  14. To repay you for past kindnesses, I should really photocopy one of his books and mail it to you.
  15. Bruen and Pelecanos are like a modern day Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett - really well-written, interesting noir/crime stories. George Pelecanos writes about stuff in and around DC...from what I gather, Bruen's stuff is mostly set in Ireland. I really enjoying getting into the hard drinking, tough-guy mindset while sitting on the couch, wrapped up in my favorite blanky and drinking hot chocolate.
  16. I just finished reading Calibre, and am now starting American Skin. This guy is now my new favorite author. Anyone have any recommendations on what I should read next? This guy is like an Irish version of George Pelecanos, so I'm hoping maybe Calexico or someone else who enjoys that style (maybe even that one smarmy, condescending moderator lady) may be able to chime in.
  17. I can't quote without my computer throwing up on me, but to address several points above: 1. Yes, the game eventually came on. I think I just missed the top of the 1st and one batter in the bottom of the inning. 2. Nats games are no longer blacked out. There's a regional sports network here called MASN which carries both Nats and O's games. I will discuss this issue in person with whoever wishes to see me act like a retard because of baseball television rights issues and my inability to cope with perceived injustices with the aforementioned rights.
  18. At 7:08 pm, I think I might have told the Cox Cable automated voicemail system that I was going to "drive over there and strangle you with a fucking tube sock" (the O's/Sox game was not on yet due to what looked like someone there forgetting to do their job...at least that's how it looked to this uneducated observer). Apparently the automated voice mail system does not know how to route such a request...
