  1. Go to Rossi's Liquors. It is on 412 State St. Greatest dive bar in the Loop. I suggest a Malort and an Anti-Hero to wash it down. Then stumble down to the Billy Goat.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I picked up two for the Friday show.
  3. Thanks for sharing! For a song that they have not dusted off since 2001, they did an awesome job. This is one that they should put back in the rotation. Again...thanks.
  4. I am so fired up about Feed of Man. Way too long for them not to bust it out. I can only hope there is audio of it since my recordings ("Rock the River" and Grant Park gig) are getting up there in age. Sigh.
  5. I have been requesting this one for two years. When they used to play it during the Mermaid Ave II tour, it always rocked. Here is hoping that someday it will see the light!
  6. I can confirm that the Chicago date was listed as July 12 at Toyota Park.
  7. Terrific to read these comments. It is so well worth it to see this tour. I love "Cut My Hair," and it was great to hear it live as well as all of the other songs off of the album get their proper due. Thanks for the posts.
  8. Nicely stated. I direct my students to check out the Isle of Wight dvd for proof of great live rock. I am glad that they are getting some positive, later in life attention again. It was great to see them do this Quad tour, and I would love to see another show during the upcoming second leg.
  9. I went to the show last night in Chicago, and they rocked. It was better than I expected. If you are going, you will not be disappointed. In addition, be sure to get there to catch the opening band (Vintage Trouble). Great night all around.
  10. I just want to hear Naked Eye. I have been waiting too many years to miss it.
  11. Thanks for posting. I am fired up for the Chicago show.
  12. Anyone know anything about Vintage Trouble, the opening band for The Who on this first leg of the Quad tour?
  13. A last minute executive decision was made to attend tonight's show: anyone have two? If so please send me a message! Thanks
  14. Great city. A few spots: Comet Cafe and Glorioso's (terrific calls from Winston). While remaining on the east side, head to Wolski's and Thurmans (a Grateful Dead bar that honors Thurman Munson) and then the Nomad. Try another nugget: Swinging Door tavern on Michigan - some great Pabst stuff on the walls. The old bookstores appear to be no longer - Downtown books is no longer in its original site and Rennaissance has closed up. Too bad, though. Both great for browsing. Bay View is terrific - an earlier post captures the key spots. Damn. Have a great time.
  15. I finally got an email with the codes this morning, three days after the initial sale. Grrrr. Either way, I am in. This fall will generate some big buzz towards them with Townshend's autobiography, the Real Me movie, the Olympics, and the tour. My thinking is that they would have one more tour in them after this and then they move on to solo theater shows or enjoy the quietness of their autumn years. If Sir Paul could still bring it in his early 70s, then these guys can still rock. Regardless, to hear the opening riff of "The Real Me" and Pete singing "I Am One" will be terrific.
  16. The presale for this show is a disaster. Anyone have the fan code? I know this request is uncool, but I have had nothing but trouble with the fan club site. I love the band, this album, and will be attending the Rosemont show, but their web designer must be Barney Fife.
  17. I have two balcony seats for the 12/9 Milwaukee show. They are too good to pass up. PM me if interested. I really would like to keep them as a pair. I will be at the show and can meet you beforehand for delivery.
  18. That was a fun show - also known as the "Altamont" concert.
  19. Wolfgang's Vault just added a 1999 show of Wilco's into their concert vault (Calaveras County Fairgrounds 5/29/1999). It has a strong setlist from the Summerteeth era. It should be some good listening.
  20. If you like IPAs, go and get some Gumball Head and/or Alpha King from Three Floyd's Brewery. Run. Now. Fast.
  21. I have a pair for Sunday night at the UIC. PM me if interested.
  22. Umm...sorry for the confusion - this is a live clip of them playing the new song.
  23. Radiohead debut a new song the other night in Austria. The video recording is very good and the song is very good, too.
  24. My wife and I got into a discussion about the Chcago-based food store. I recall my mom referring to it as "The Jewel T" (shortened for Tea). Before you can say "A&P," we are debating the last time the store was called this. Does anyone recall if they grew up with it as Jewel T? Would this have been after 1970?
  25. My first double album was The Who's Quadrophenia and nearly thirty years later, it still finds time on the turntable.
