Saving for my dream guitar -- tempted by another
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Solid State Technology
Just tracked that solo last night with my new Tele and it was, in fact, perfect. Love it! -
Just like a little Rory Calhoun!

Who are you?! I was at SIUC in the early 90s. And I was at quite a few of those bad ska shows at the Hangar and whatnot. I wrote for the Nightlife and DJed at IDB, too. I was also in a (terrible) band down there called Rufus. -

I think that the problem with punk-ska is that the band that (kinda) invented the genre--at least the hardcore version of it--did it so perfectly and so well that every other band attempting the style just sounds like a pale imitation. Yes, I am talking about Operation Ivy. And, no I am not certain that they invented it, but they seem to be the earliest band that had any sort of a lasting influence on the sound. Listen to Energy and even the haters can see the appeal. -

I agree with this. Not the end all be all, but still a pretty good band. Here's some blaphemy: Take some of Britney Spears' songs out of her hands, and there are some pretty damn good tunes there! -
Nope. Just a solo/acoustic gig. Although I am going in for a recording session tonight and I have it sitting right next to me at my desk at work.

Pretty good. I have a couple of vids that my friend sent me. Accidentally played this one 1/2-step too high. Made it work though, I think: If you want more, let me know. I also have them posted at my band's FB page. Thanks for asking!

I think the same could be said by everybody here. We ALL fans, whether we know it or not.

Turbo Rat has more gain and is a bit nastier. The Tele: I'm playing it through a Peavy Delta Blues 1x15:

And to this Highland Park boy, in particular. Never met him, but just knowing that he haunted my old haunts brings it a little closer to me than it otherwise would have been. Still, a gigantic loss for the world of comedy, nonetheless. A genius. Rest in peace.

Until I got my Tele a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't playing anything but acoustic either, for the most part. And I agree: it's made me a better guitar player -- working out solo/acoustic arrangements of my OWN tunes.

This is the only stomp box that I use: For nasty, nasty solos and a few other things, it's dead-perfect. On the higher settings, you can actually hear the signal breaking apart. Damn impressive. Yeah, I know that it's not a "boutique" pedal or anything, but I love it. Although, I have to admit that, for what I am doing these days, it's not so practical. I probably need something more subtle like that Sarno Earth Drive pedal that I posted about on page 1. And, I used to have one of these things, too: Yeah, the original Russian-built model that came in the big, wooden box. A thicker, meatier
