  1. If you're looking for compilations of overlooked Southern Soul, these 2 are both pretty great: http://www.amazon.com/Birmingham-Sound-Soul-Neal-Hemphill/dp/B001BGJ0L2/ref=sr_shvl_album_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380033632&sr=301-2 http://www.amazon.com/The-Birmingham-Sound-Soul-Hemphill/dp/B000RKKJXG/ref=sr_shvl_album_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380033588&sr=301-1
  2. Might take another couple of listens. Like I said, he is a damn good songwriter. But, I guess, sonically, he just isn't twerking my striped pants these days. But I've only given it a single listen so far. So more are definitely required.
  3. I like the new Neko. Not so much the new Jason Isbell. IB is a good songwriter, but not terribly exciting.
  4. Anything that I can use that doesn't require DL? I have a work computer, here.
  5. A battle of the bands, Scott Pilgrim-style!
  6. Beautiful video. Thanks for posting that! Since you are just discovering DJ through his colab with another artist, I thought that I would share the way that I discovered him, too -- also through a collab. This one with Yo La Tengo. It was in rotation when I was DJing in college and completely grabbed me when I put it on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCOkbOmKjMk Oh, and "Worried Shoes" is also my favorite song of his. And the movie is wonderful.

  8. And, if you haven't heard it, you need to hear The Amps' album. Just as good as, if not better than, anything The Breeders did.
  9. Sounds more like Band On the Run-era Wings trying to evoke 67-era Beatles. Nonetheless, it's a great sound and a helluva song. One of the best new things that I've heard from him in a long time. High hopes.
