  1. I downloaded the free version to my Kindle, for my son to use as a book report. When he changed his mind about what book he wanted to do, I started to read it myself. Just for the hell of it. Enjoying this a lot more than I thought that I would.
  2. Yeah, that Ty Segall album is growing on me the more I listen.
  3. This time it was this: It's not the DVD, it's the companion book to the doc. Hell, it's easier than getting the kids to agree to watch the DVD, or finding the time alone to watch it without complaints. Looking forward to digging in.
  4. For my birthday last week, I got a gift certificate to a local guitar shop (Fender dealer), and then some cash -- to put towards a guitar. The guitar I have always wanted: Or, maybe I'll get it in seafoam green. But that natural wood tone is so damn pretty! Hoping it won't take too long. But it probably will.
  5. I didn't see him last week. But I can assure you that, yes, you do need all of his records. And, go back all the way to his days with Brinsley Schwarz, too; that was a fantastic band.

  7. Saw 50/50 yesterday and enjoyed it. Yes, it's obvious OscarĀ® fodder, but it was well done. Joseph Gordon Levitt was very good. Seth Rogen played the exact same character that he always plays, but I happen to like that guy, so I enjoyed watching him. Guessing that Levitt will get a nomination for Best Actor and maybe the movie will for screenplay. The rest depends upon the rest of the field. Still, I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a sad sack cancer movie that's not a total chick flick.
  8. All our Jewish boarders: S'hana Tova. Hope that it's a peaceful and prosperous one.
  9. Hear about this and am looking forward to it. Happen to know if any of these are Toby songs?
  10. Yeah, one great album, and half of a good one does not make for a HoF career.
  11. No matter what the treatment, I am going to have to see this. Sounds really interesting anyway. Is it on Netflix yet? Will it be? That's pretty much the only way I'll be able to see this thing.
  12. Heard a review of the record on NPR yesterday, with clips of the songs. They sound great, just liked I hoped they would. The Vicki Petersen-penned tunes sounded especially impressive.
