So, this is becoming a bit more involved (are you surprised?); it's going to be a double EP. I'm still going to record the songs solo and acoustic. And I am going to release those songs as an EP called "Well-Enough Alone". But then, I am going to take the same takes of those same songs, and remix/produce them a bit more, and release THOSE as a second EP called "Can't Leave Well-Enough Alone". I think that I am going to make them available for purchase/download either together or separately. Maybe I'll tack on some bonus stuff as an premium for getting them both. Who knows? Anyway, recording

I never followed up on this post from a couple of months ago. I picked up the record and am totally in love with it. I think that it holds up even next to the classic debut. There are not quite as many high spots that the s/t, but there are still many, many high spots. And those are every bit as good as the best moments on the debut. Still sound beautiful. Still wonderfully weird. Something like if Jonathan Richman were three sisters with gorgeous voices. Love. Love. Love.

These are not (necessarily) the "classic" artists and songs, but these are still damn good collections with a great overview of the sound. Highly recommended comps: Again, not a part of the 1960's "classic" cannon, but an undeniable classic, nonetheless, from a central figure in the whole Birmingham scene: Other than that, I am with you in looking for more on this sound. It is a great one.

Today I spent the day hanging out with my oldest - going out to lunch and record shopping. All at his request. Damn that was fun! He's 11.

Do your siblings have the same musical taste as you?

almost no overlap whatsoever. -
My favorite SFA album is Radiator, but that is NOT on the mellow side at all. Just on the freaking genius side. as to my np: for the day:

I'm gonna have to pick up that Saadiq record as soon as I can get my hands on it.

I think that the U.S. considers itself at war. Even if it is against an organization (Al Quaeda) as opposed to a country. We were attacked by this organization, so we are "at war." It's an odd situation, but I am pretty sure that we are well-covered by International Law. That said, I am far from a Hawk and I have very mixed emotions on this one. The part of me that is vengeful is very satisfied right now. The part of me that is a Dove, is appalled. But all parts of me are, nonetheless, happy to be rid of him.

So far, THIS is the most interesting story that I have yet read about the attack on Osama. And, even more interesting, is reading his actual Tweets. Highly recommended.

While I, too, am relieved to hear this news, it has caused me to revisit maybe the most-holy piece of writing of the last 100 years. (IMO) Fucking brilliant piece from The Onion: God Angrily Clarifies "Don't Kill" Rule And, again, thank you to all of you who have served. We owe you everything.

Music in a foreign language? You listen to much?

That is a great album. It's amazing that the one original song on there (the title track) holds up so well against all the great, classic folk tunes that make up the rest of the album. -

Kraftwerk? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eI3gCWL-sY&feature=fvst Although, I think that a lot of their lyrics are in English. -
