  1. Amazing picture of the president and his Security Staff watching the raid go down in real time, from the White House Situation Room:
  2. I'm gonna have to pick up that Saadiq record as soon as I can get my hands on it.
  3. I think that the U.S. considers itself at war. Even if it is against an organization (Al Quaeda) as opposed to a country. We were attacked by this organization, so we are "at war." It's an odd situation, but I am pretty sure that we are well-covered by International Law. That said, I am far from a Hawk and I have very mixed emotions on this one. The part of me that is vengeful is very satisfied right now. The part of me that is a Dove, is appalled. But all parts of me are, nonetheless, happy to be rid of him.
  4. So far, THIS is the most interesting story that I have yet read about the attack on Osama. And, even more interesting, is reading his actual Tweets. Highly recommended.
  5. While I, too, am relieved to hear this news, it has caused me to revisit maybe the most-holy piece of writing of the last 100 years. (IMO) Fucking brilliant piece from The Onion: God Angrily Clarifies "Don't Kill" Rule And, again, thank you to all of you who have served. We owe you everything.
  6. Brinsley Schwarz - Rarities and...
  7. In honor of the royal wedding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbqv3MwwVd8&feature=related
  8. Just arrived and will be listening to today:
  9. That is a great album. It's amazing that the one original song on there (the title track) holds up so well against all the great, classic folk tunes that make up the rest of the album.
  10. Kraftwerk? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eI3gCWL-sY&feature=fvst Although, I think that a lot of their lyrics are in English.
  11. And then there's this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_6Tu257ciI&feature=related
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZviYmTMpBXE I freaking love this band.
  13. Just had Aurelio's last night. Not thin-crust, really -- more a medium crust. Still, really tasty.
  14. Just letting you know, in case any of you would want to meet up, say 'hey" and all that. Tell you what, you show up for my set and I will buy you a beer (as long as there aren't too many of you). Or, I will give you a copy of my CD. Sad that I have to result to bribery, but, I am not a proud man. Send me a PM for more information, because of VC rules about links and promotion and stuff. But, it would be nice to put some faces to some names and all that. I hope to hear from you.
  15. They sell them at the Whole Foods near me. It's damn good. Cracker crust. Although, I don't know if they ship it out of the Chicago area. Damn tasty, though.
  16. Agreed. Sometimes I crave a cracker-crust pizza. And, on that tip, I loves me some Imo's (St. Louis-style), with sausage. Too bad we don't get any of that around here.
  17. Best pizza in Chicago is Lou Malnati's. Gotta get a pan pizza with the butter crust, spinach, mushrooms, and garlic. It's spectacular. They have locations all over the area, but the original is on Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnwood, just a few blocks north of the city limits.
  18. That Michel Polnareff is fantastic. Where to start with him?
