  1. One of the best stories that I've read in these forums.
  2. I find it hard to believe that this movie has not been posted about here yet. And yet, I find it hard to find a post about this movie here. Trying to stream it on Netflix, but it's "currently not available" right now. Hopefully it'll get streaming soon. Anyone see it?

  4. To be fair, many of the "no" votes came from Republicans, as well. But it appears that every Democrat (of which there aren't many) voted "no."
  5. Did I not yet post this one? Shame on me!!! Maybe the wackiest cover version ever. But brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-3IH3T1DoE&feature=fvwrel

  8. I remember liking it for about 2 weeks and then quickly moving on. Haven't thought about Billy Thorpe for 25 years or more, but something was sparked in my brain, so I looked this up and, what do you know, I kinda like it. So I'll share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5flwLa8EOw
  9. Just got a dusting of snow here in Chicago last night. Supposed to stay cold through the weekend. Boo.
  10. That is a huge kick drum! But, really shallow, so yeah, it looks like it was maybe a marching band drum. Nice.
  11. Reckless Records on Broadway. From the Vic: just go straight east on Belmont until you hit Broadway and head south. It's only about 2-3 doors south, on the east side of the street. It's an easy 3/4-mile, or so walk. That's the store where I saw Neutral Milk Hotel play an in-store back in 1998, if that tells you what kind of a place it is. A little farther away, but still a short drive from the Vic, is the store that most of the Chicago crew thinks is the best one in town: Laurie's Planet of Sound on Lincoln Ave., in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.
  12. In the car on the way home, it'll be:
  13. My gear will impress absolutely nobody, but it does the job, and I've had guys with $2500 Gibsons ask to play my Strat on sessions, instead of their own guitars, just because they like the way it feels. It's magic. Me with "Susan" -- My 1988 Squier Strat; heavily modified. (Chandler "Hot Rails" pickup in the bridge position, with coil-splitter switch, graphite nut, and blocked trem). I play it through a Peavy Delta Blues 115 And my only stomp box is a Turbo RAT My acoustic is a 1993 Epiphone EO-1 I also have a cheap Regal resonator guitar that I can't find a representative pictur
  14. She became such a joke at some point: Her marriages. Her weight. The drugs. Her generally zany persona. But there is no arguing Liz' talent or beauty in her time. This is a huge loss for Hollywood, if only for the history that she represents. Rest in peace. LINK
  15. Very early cover of a very early David Bowie song. (No, Bowie is nowhere on this recording.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBLktpmOABw
