Bird Sounds - Girl Sounds EP Post-hardcore a-la Fugazi, Jesus Lizard, or Shellac. Really well done. I saw them this weekend and their live show is really freaking great, too. Apparently they have a new full length coming out sometime soon. Let's hope so.

Surfer Blood is getting a lot of indie/message board buzz. I've heard two songs and both are really good. Between that, and the continued buzz, I'm thinking that I need to pick this one up.

The reason is: the album cuts. They are outstanding, as well. -

Just got listed at AllMusic.com, too. Hopefully we'll get this one reviewed there, like our first one did. Fingers crossed.

Just stumbled upon this article whilst Googling my friend Josh – one of my best friends since high school. He's making a name for himself as a somellier (sp?) here in Chicago and this is a pretty nifty, totally geeky little article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dana-joy-altman/pairing-music-drink-with_b_496059.html I'm gonna have to email him about this one and give him shit for it.

Hop On Pop - Chicken On A Bicycle (CD, Spade Kitty, Pop) Wow...such a great band name, hard to believe no one thought of it before. Hop On Pop is the project driven by the songwriting skills of Todd Leiter-Weintraub. Joining Todd on these recordings is David Kling and various other artists/musicians. The humorously-titled Chicken On A Bicycle kicks off with the slightly goofy "Here"...an instantly addictive tune that sounds not unlike My Dad Is Dead in some ways. Many of the tunes on this album are pure pop but there are some acoustic solo tracks as well. Leiter-Weintraub proves himself to be

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
PopTodd replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I agree with this, too. Like: Al's Original Beef on Taylor (yeah, the location does make a difference. Taylor is the original and it's noticably better than the rest.) Ricobene's Breaded Steaks (several locations) -

The Weiner Circle is a damn good hot dog joint. You'd better know what you want by the time you get to the front of the line, though, or you'll be waiting for a long time. And, don't go there looking for the show, or you will become the show. Just go to get the food... it's good enough to warrant the trip there. The cheese fries are particularly good, as are the burgers and Polish sausage. (Do NOT order catsup on your hot dog or Polish, or you will get a beat-down.) But yeah, it's worth it. -
If I knew any of their tunes, this may be pretty cool.

I love the Talking Heads. As far as he is as a human being, that does not really concern me. Although, I thank him many times over for discovering Tom Zé and bringing him to the American audience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6ByabeEGxc One of my all-time favorites.

I love 'em. "Romeo and Juliet" is one of those songs that chokes me up. There was a while that I refused to play guitar with a pick, because I wanted to play like Mark Knopfler. Guess what? Never got there. -
