My friend's report: "They rocked." OK, so he's not verbose...

A friend of mine is seeing them at the Melkweg in Amsterdam tonight. I'll forward his report...

Lame... Wings signed Bertuzzi for 1 year @ $1.5 mil. I don't see where he fits into the team. He's shit on defense and mobility, is known to take stupid penalties, his offensive skills have taken a dive, and he rarely stays healthy. I guess that's worth $1.5 million? I would have given his spot to a hungry kid on their farm team.

So they should just deny he was a part of their history?

OK - name a single endorsement deal Favre either currently has, or one that he's lost by signing with the Vikings. The only thing Favre has done to hurt himself is that his credibility is lost - he'd never make it on the witness stand. In 3 years, nobody will care about this.

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.

I took a "kayak the chicago river and see the fireworks at the Pier" tour this past Saturday night. I liked it. Wife did not. She thought it was physical torture. I admit that my back ached, and I really wanted to get out and stretch my legs - being in a kayak for 3+ hours was not the most comfortable experience. But, being on the Chicago river at night was pretty cool. -
What's your budget? If you want a nice cool place to stay in Milwaukee, book a room at the Iron Horse Hotel. It's new - renovated warehouse space. Very nice. I think the prices are decent. Otherwise I'd stay at the Intercontinental or Metro. Those are both downtown. The Iron Horse is close to the Harley museum.

Youkilis ended up on his back with Porcello on top of him. That's a takedown worth 5 points in wrestling.

Nice 5 point takedown by Porcello.

10 minute game misconduct for 3rd man in, 5 minute major for fighting, 2 minute minor for instigating, 2 minute minor for roughing.

The best douchebag is Massengill. My favorite douchebag is Dustin Diamond.

I read that the Ozzy orange juice scene was faked for comedy. Supposedly the WASP drunk dude's vodka bottles were filled with water as well (though he was legitimately plastered). I kept thinking "these guys have no idea that this genre is about to die in 2-3 years" while watching it. Just goes to show you that talent alone isn't enough. You may have a guitarist that can go deedledee deedledee deedledee like Eddie Van Halen all day long, but if you don't have "the song", there's nothing that makes your band interesting. Poison, for as much as I'm not a fan, at least understood that part - t

DVR'd Decline of Western Civilization Part 2 off IFC the other night. I had only read about it previously. Fantastic.

Nice pickup for the Tigers, but pitching isn't one of their needs. Hitting is!

Strange that they're picking on Chicago, and citing Hossa's contract as the first time this has been done. Detroit signed Zetterberg and Franzen to extensions in a similar manner during last season. Perhaps theirs don't tail off as dramatically as Hossa's? Perhaps theirs don't go beyond the age of 40? The NHL must have contemplated contracts like this - because they built in a clause for players over 35 signing extensions - that their whole contract counts towards the cap even if they retire before the contract expires (see Pronger/Flyers controversy for more detail on this).

1. First Concert, when? ShaNaNa, 1978, Austin Mn. 2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did? I really wanted to go to Sha na na. It was awesome, I think. I have absolutely no memory of it. I was in 3rd grade. The first concert I went to with my own money was U2 - Unforgettable Fire tour, 85? - Minneapolis MN, Armory. 3. Favorite Band? Beatles 4. How Many Times have you seen them? Paul once, Ringo and his All Stars twice. 5. Worst concert you attended? Probably a Dylan show. 6. Favorite? Joe Strummer - I'm guessing 98? Minneapolis. 7. Band you have seen the most? I'm gu
