  5. Los Lobos: La Bamba, before Richie Valens. Bowie's China Girl before Iggy Pop (though, since they both wrote it, I suppose it isn't a cover. But, Iggy's was definitely released before Bowie's.)
  6. Vanilla Ice's silliness has more to do with being Vanilla Ice, and less with his chosen cultural appropriation. Though white artists in hip hop are the minority, the Beastie Boys and Eminem are legit.

  14. heard Talking Heads' Take Me To The River before Rev. Al Green's.
  15. Pretty sure I heard Nirvana's version of Man Who Sold The World before Bowie. Definitely heard "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" before Leadbelly's. Definitely heard every version of any song by Robert Johnson before hearing the original.
  16. Yeah, Green Day definitely has their share of plundering. I wonder how they've avoided lawsuits. Here's another one: Their "Maria" is a photocopy of The Avengers (a seminal Bay Area punk band, so Green Day definitely would have been aware of them) Thin White Line,
  17. Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven before Spirit's Taurus.
  18. If you think high ranking Dems weren't wary of going to war with the Clinton machine... They all knew the position (and superdelegates votes) were already spoken for.
