  1. I'm taking my 5 year old daughter to this Friday night. My 14 year old son won't go, but he is attending Zappa plays Zappa with me this Wednesday night in DE. Dinner at Sabatinos and a night with the orchestra with my girl. Weird Frank stuff with my boy. Life IS good!
  2. damn...missed it let me know if anyone drops out!
  3. I'm going with that big first baseman from Minnesota. I really like Hamilton, but I'm going with my gut. Just a hunch.
  4. Didn't Berman once do a SportsCenter broadcast where he dropped a bunch of Dylan titles into the update because it was the Bob's birthday. I remember reading/ seeing something about this, but could not confirm on a quick trip 'round the net. Plus he's a big proponent of stocking up on Tylenol when he has to broadcast Toronto Blue Jays home games..... i imagine, glandular deficiencies aside, Mr. Berman might be a fun guy to hang with.....
  5. wow- there must have been a home run derby with the entire Mets team early last September!
  6. damn right. I remember one summer alone my friend Mike S. broke Hank Aarons all time home run record. He hit everything- there was nowhere to pitch him- over the garage, in the right field bleachers, or over the short left field porch, that kid assaulted whiffle balls like they were telling fat jokes about his mom.
  7. If I recall the comments are on an interview track on the CD
  8. There was a CD included with Phils book a couple of years ago. It had the usual novelties ( demos, etc) but also included the Box of Rain from the last show. You can sort of hear Phils angst and frustration (Phrustration?) in the vocal delivery and he makes some comments to that effect in talking about his mindset during the performance.
  9. "I Fought The Law" The Clash, not the GD "Devil w/ a Blue Dress On /Detroit Medly" Bruce Springsteen
  10. thats it- I'm starting a best cover thread
  11. My five year old daughter likes to sing along to "Highly Suspicious". She cracks up over the peanut butter pudding surprise part, and I think even she understands the song is a bit of a lark. She's also recently been digging "Dragonfly Pie" by S. Malkmus and the Jicks. Must be a pudding and pie sort of thing going on. On another note, my friend recently said he saw his 18 year old son giggling, screaming, and laughing hysterically to "Inna Gadda Da Vida" while dancing naked around the pool at his 50th surprise birthday party. Ahhh, kids......
  12. ummm, i remember Tesla ruining that cool song "signs" and personally, the Byrds version of "My Back pages" Now that I think of it, most of their Dylan stuff was mediocre, and I'm a Byrds fan... there are other offenders, i'm just spacing right now.... oh yeah Shatner's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. and I love Shatner, too.
  13. oops maybe i was thinking of Oh Carol by Chuck Berry... I can't believe I messed up a song by the beast boys...

  16. Hi Gang! I just wasted yet another hour of my life in a meeting...though it wawsn't a total loss as I thought of this thread when somebody mentioned that horrible "Jenny Jenny" song! My initial entry: The MC5 Led Zeppelin IV Roll Another Number for the Road - Neil Young
  17. wow, many memories... first- probably about 9 years old...- bringing home David Bowie's Heroes, Sg.t Pepper, Beach Boys Endless Summer, and some Cosby comedy records home from the local library, sitting in front of my parents "hi-fi" and ......whoa................... later, getting London Calling at 13 years old cause I thought the cover was cool (didn't know it was an Elvis Presley send-up) and Born to Run....those albums changed my life. Too many others to mention, but off I went.... Great thread- Bringing back the memories makes me feel Real Good. Thank You!

    Momofuku

how 'bout it. Imperial bedroom is cut for cut the best EC out there. Absolutely phenomenol! And you're right Elvis gets no credit for his vocal stylings. I've seen him with the attractions, imposters, solo acoustic, a capella, and w/ orchestra background, and he's more than capable in any setting. He can turn a nimble, if sometimes reaching, lyric, too. And the mans got a great sense of humor, too. Uh-oh, I just might be going gay for Elvis......hope my girlfriend doesn't see this....
