With everything in the world recorded and placed on You Tube, I really don't understand why more of this tour isn't being posted. -

If only he had come around in Chicago! I'm so glad it's happening though...seemed such a shame he wasn't singing with them given the talent he had on tour with him. Very very cool! -
This is really exciting!!! I thought I was the only one in the world who appreciated that period of Dylan.

Ok...I'll bite. This is awesome...thanks for posting! I know where I will be for certain parts of my weekend for sure.

This is tough to know what constitues a "sideman" but..... Daniel Ash/David J - Love and Rockets Peter Tosh Feist Herbie Hancock Phil Collins Mick Jones (Big Audio Dynamite) Do George Harrison and Lee Renaldo count?
-
Easy for me....8/27/72!!!

However, the "Black Peter" is worth the price of admission. Jerry's guitar and vocals are out of this world on that one!! And more '77 releases? I"m with Vacant Horizon...surprise us with an early 80's or nice '94 show. They do exist ya know.

It's got that slow, slinky, hanging on by a thread, psychedelic sound typical for 1969 Dead. I like it but can't listen to a ton from this era. That "High Time" must be the biggest train wreck I'm heard them do. They almost stop it completely. Ouch!

Fleetwood Mac-Mick Fleetwood does not play alone
imsjry replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Someone Else's Song
No sarcasm from me. The teleprompter bugs me. And yes, of course I know the reason they are used. I'd rather have Tweedy forget some lyrics then to use an aid. To me, it's glorified karaoke to use them, even if they are your own words you're reading. And I stand by my statement that it affects the way you sing. -

That does actually bother me. He's mastered it for sure, but I do think reading lyrics instead of "knowing them" totally changes the way you sing them. -
LOL...I would certainly hope so!

Yeah, some insane prices on there for sure. I really don't understand the prices for the Big Star album. I didn't even think that was a RSD "exclusive" or anything. They had about 5 copies of that at my store and I think they are still there.
-
Hmmmm...maybe I should offload my original Vs. and Vitalogy albums. I never listen to them anymore and don't really care about having them just for collector reasons.
-
I had in my hands the one copy in the store of Lawn Boy and put it back and within seconds it was gone. I now see them going for almost $100.00 on Ebay. Ouch! I really wish I had the Junta one they released last year.

Most artists that open for Bob come off the tour saying they never even met him, let alone played with him. I doubt collaborations will happen but I'd love to be pleasently surprised. Hell, Bob isn't playing "Like a Rolling Stone" anymore so anything's possible.

Has anyone been to Toyota Park? Just wondering how it is as a venue sound and logistics-wise.

Got a ton of great vinyl! Husker Du, Dylan, Stooges/Black Keys, Rolling Stones, Bowie, Pink Floyd (7 Inches), Big Star colored vinyl soundtrack. Miles Davis-Round Midnight, Milestones, Someday My Prince Will Come. Yo La Tengo-Fade. Lord Heron. But the best thing I found was a pristine used copy of The Clash-Sandinista with the lyric sheet! The fact that it there is nothing short of a miracle considering their used collection usually is mostly Journey, Neil Diamond, and Billy Joel.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros
imsjry replied to Papillon Parade's topic in Someone Else's Song
I never quite knew what to think of them until I saw the documentary of them on the train with Mumford and Old Crow ("Big Easy Express"). I thought they were the best part of that wonderful film. Their energy and pure love of each other and their music is really infectious! I actually had the opposite experience then Beltman; I always found their CD's lacking until I saw them live. Now I find their cd's REALLY lacking compared to the energy they have live. -
Holy cow did he shake up those stale setlists from the last tour! Typical weird Bob that NOW he's playing Tempest songs live long after the album's been out.

Artists you were late in coming to—now you can't get enough.

My newer obsessions list would be much older stuff that I just never heard growing up: Nina Simone, Slim Harpo, Love, Captain Beefheart for starters.. -
Jim James - Regions of Light and Sound of God
imsjry replied to hwllo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I love it. To my ears, it sounds like Jim tried to do a David Bowie meets Hall and Oats thing and it actually works. Closer to "Z" in feel if I had to compare it to anything he's done. Great album! -
Cubbies are out of town that weekend so a Saturday show is a given.....

What are your perfect 10 out of 10 albums!
imsjry replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
GREAT choice! I thought I was the only one on earth who still adores this album. I just found it a week ago on vinyl at Half Price Books :-)) -
I thought "Hours" was exactly that. I remember being stunned by some of the direct lyrics on that album when it came out. Bowie had never really written that way before and this sounds like this tune could have been on that album. I too am thrilled he's back and the new song is just awesome!
