  1. Analogman, is there a place to purchase just the song that i'm missing? It's not even on itunes anymore is it, since the album is out. It's gotta come out legit sometime, either as a download off wilcoworld, or on itunes or something (even though it seems like all of the previous eps have disappeared off the site). I'd gladly drop a buck or two on it myself (Jolly Banker was completely worth the $2 donation), but the fact that I am refused buying a song because I didn't want to preorder the whole album on itunes (since I already have legit mp3s, cd and vinyl of it) is really kinda crummy.
  2. I have a complaint to nonesuch, while my ashes dvd arrived quickly, and my W(TA) vinyl came wednesday in perfect condition and sounds amazing... THERE WAS A SPIDER THE SIZE OF MY THUMB IN THE BOX! Like seriously, what kind of quality control is there? It was huge, it could have eaten my dog! I have bass player fingers, consider the size of my thumb... uh huh, it was that big. Of course i'm joking, but there was a "oh shit" moment when it scurried out of the box and had to be dispatched.
  3. I'm actually a little disappointed with the Lowell "commemorative" tickets. Not because they are cheap or ugly or anything like that, but i've spent the last 2 weeks at work fighting with another company doing foil stamping and embossing work for some of the packaging we do, and then to come home and see the tickets foil stamped... Of course i'm joking about the anger, but it's an odd coincidence.
  4. I haven't received any confirmation, nor have I been charged for the preorder yet, so I actually just sent out an email to nonesuch to see if i could just add the single to my order... I doubt they can do anything, but I'll take my chances, we'll see what happens.
  5. I preordered the vinyl + cd when it went on sale from nonesuch, because I could order the Ashes DVD with it and not pay the insane shipping fees, they were quick in shipping the DVD, but i never received anything telling me it was coming, so these might just drop at any moment
  6. Walked into a Dunkin' Donuts on sunday morning with my boy to hear "You Never Know" playing, realizing that the 3 guys behind the counter were listening to the whole album. I told them I was calling the feds because of they broadcasting illegal copywrited materials, the guy said it was ok, because he had tickets to Lowell. Had a laugh for a few and my boy walked out with a free box of donut holes. It pays to be a Wilco fan now and again
  7. I voted Jim, not because of any dislike for Pat, because he's an amazing musician on that stage and a wonderful foil against Nels when the band goes for the three guitar sound, but mostly because Jim and Jeff started something interesting in Loose Fur, improved that direction even further on AGIB, and then the group changed again and part of me feels that the sound they were developing up to that point was abandoned in favor of a different, more organic sound for the two recent records. (And i'm not saying that in a bad way either, i've heard a lot of people outside of here look down on SBS
  8. I know this is a long dead topic, but there's been something bothering me about playing this and i think i figured it out. the verse is listed as going between E and A to play (actual chords, not chords relative to capo), and soundwise i knew that was correct, and yet it never sounded like the song exactly to me. Watching the version on the ashes dvd tonight kind of settled it for me. Scalzunfield's version of the riff seems correct, but my one minor note is that the verse chord changes are going between a D and a G shape (without the root in drop tuning), instead of a D to D/B shape So th
  9. wierd, i didn't get any list for lowell's show, just a thanks for requesting...
  10. how did you get the "top 10 requests" list for a show?
  11. Well, I will say one thing for my order from Nonesuch, I figured i'd get my whole order when the lp came out, but my ashes dvd came today, so figuring there was no shipping costs, i'm quite pleased.
  12. Poor Places dissolving into noise like in so many '08 shows/Bull Black Nova/Spiders Throw in some Via Chicago and someone's gonna have a heart attack. Summer tour cannot get to Massachusetts soon enough, I need some crazy Nels Cline guitar overload.
  13. I did, because I wanted to order Ashes and the vinyl at the same time. Of course this was hours before the contest was announced....
  14. is ordering through nonesuch bad compared to kungfu? the reason i ask is that i'm trying to get the ashes dvd at the same time, and place one order (since i can't find it anywhere local) and pay one shipping rate, but kungfu won't let me combine the preorder and the dvd to one order, nonesuch will. So now i'm at this wierd "buying product, supporting band, yay"/"not buying direct from group, boo" moment
  15. I'm hoping tradition holds and a vinyl with an included cd is in my near future, the only issue with that is something like sky blue sky where i bought it with the dvd, and then bought the vinyl w/cd, which i gave to a then budding now neurotic wilco fan
  16. I told myself no, I don't want to drive to Lowell, the last two concerts I went to were Wilco @ Tanglewood and Tweedy @ The Calvin, so no, we'll take a break and go see something else this summer.... So i'll be driving out to Lowell in July, the wife and her best friend are delighted, as am I of course, but after that, it's time to go see someone else, really... totally... Well, unless there's a Pines show in later summer or something.
  17. My son is three and a half now, is as neurotically obsessive about music as his old man, it's a wonderful thing. The Beatles, Wilco and songs from the Backyardigans tv show are still big with him, among many other things. This is probably going back almost a year ago now. My sister-in-law ended up out of work so we hired her for child care to benefit everyone. So, one morning he asks her for some music, so she grabs one of his cds and puts it on, and he says "no, not kids music", so she shuts it off and puts on some pop-country radio station (I try to not judge my sister-in-law for her musi
  18. I'll admit that I ended up shouting out "shut the fuck up" once or twice, also a few people around us tried to "Shhhsh" the audience, but it didn't go so well the hoagie bit was funny, hearing "Via Chicago" and "She's a Jar" screamed repeatedly over jeff's stories wasn't
  19. excellent show, me and the wife were delighted, Jeff is amazing can i make one comment though: Guy in Row N, Seat 9... Seriously, how can you enjoy a show when you spend 3/4 of it texting your friends or whatnot Seriously, what's the fun in that???? Plus, the room goes dark, it's intimate and quiet and having the lcd screen on his phone glowing in my eye, that's just annoying...
  20. Me and the wife's first tweedy solo show tonight. I'd say we'd be around for the festivities beforehand, but getting our little one off to the aunt's for our evening of music after a full work day takes precedence. Awfully excited though and making it damn hard to concentrate through the work day since i so want to go goof off instead (you know, like posting here....)
  21. the balcony is nice, especially the front rows, with the size of the calvin there's not many bad seats. grabbed row N last night, left side of the stage, not gonna complain at all, the wife is delighted.
  22. i never got my email, so now i need to hope for tomorrow to like me.. i wonder what time the tickets actually go on sale
  23. "I Shall Be Released" could work, especially with the special voting related release of it... I was thinking "Christ For President" but something tells me sensitive cable channels would be scared of something mixing religion and politics
  24. looks like youtube is starting to get littered Summerteeth: What Light: California Stars: Impossible Germany:
