anyone aware that this concert is going to be rebroadcast on Sirius radio this wednesday? i didn't know whether or not anyone knew if it was a soundboard that was originally broadcast or if it is an audience recording that Sirius is going to be streaming.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I have no problem with the police using a taser in this situation. If someone refuses to leave, resists, and will not go quietly, some form of force is going to be needed. The student was given an opportunity to ask questions. He did not abide by the time limit. He was asked reasonably to vacate because he demonstrated he was not going to adhere to the rules of the forum. He was going to have to be forcibly removed. The only other option was brute force, and that can also lead to serious injury. Brute force or taser - neither ideal. I think polic

even with 160 gb, my entire catalog wouldn't fit onto one iPod. don't know what that says about me.

Is somebody going to capture this webcasts? Also, did anyone ever capture and post the entire London show where Bill Fey appeared at the end? I know his duet with Jeff surfaced, but I never saw the entire concert surface.

Curious about leak listening habits.
ponch1028 replied to Dr. Steve Brule's topic in Someone Else's Song
I've only listened to leaked albums of artists that I pretty much have their entire catalog already. If I'm interested in finding out whether or not I might be into a band, I'll usually track down a live recording. I just don't have the time anymore to listen to all my music, let alone new music. I've had the new Rilo Kiley and New Pornographers' leaked albums for several weeks now and I still haven't found time to listen to them. -
this film left me completly unimpressed with both Yates' directing and the screenplay. It was the first film of the series where I felt punished for not reading the books. If a film cannot stand on its own merits, then it should not be translated. I understand that it was a longer novel than the previous 4 books, but then why make it the shortest of the 3 movies. Almost every familar character makes brief cameos - but none are really given storylines other than to walk behind Harry everywhere he goes. Say what you will about the first 2 films (which most people seem to view as inferio

Ryan Adans vs Jeff Tweedy contrasting record reviews
ponch1028 replied to howardox's topic in Just A Fan
I have no doubt in my mind that Wilco will be highly regarded for their contributions to rock and roll in twenty or so years. While I like SBS a lot, it's difficult for me to gauge its significance in the long run other than it was the first Wilco album with Nels and Pat. Being There, Summer Teeth, and Yankee were all huge musical leaps. SBS has subtle and restrained differences. I think it'll eventually be seens as underrated and solid, but certainly YHF, AGIB, BT, and ST will be connected with the Wilco legacy more than SBS. Right or wrong (and I think it's wrong) but the musical legacy -

Personally, I think Libby got a raw deal and both sides of the political party have abused him as the fall guy. Is he blameless? Certainly not. Was the sentence excessive? I think so. Does this seem fair? If Bush's presidency wasn't such a disaster, I'd think this would be fine. It's when I look at the larger scope of his presidency that it irks me, not because of Libby but rather because of Bush and Cheney. And I am almost certain he will eventually be pardoned. Do I think he should go to prison ... probably not. But I do think he should never be employed with any company that has c

Ryan Adans vs Jeff Tweedy contrasting record reviews
ponch1028 replied to howardox's topic in Just A Fan
on the one hand, such articles are expected, and comparing artists and musicians is nothing new. on the other hand, i found it to be poorly written, lacking insight, and otherwise irrelevant. like 'em or hate 'em, judge ryan adams and jeff tweedy/wilco on their own merits. -
is anyone able to capture and record these?

You Are My Face is the BEST track (IMO), but On and On and On is the most powerful track (IMO). I can't help but think of all the ways to interpret who is the singer and who is the recipient of the song: Jeff's mother sharing these words to him Jeff's mother sharing these words to his father Jeff singing these words to his father in lieu of his mother Jeff singing these words to Sue Jeff singing these words to his children I think it is the best album closing song of Wilco's entire catalog.

MTV flips the switch back on for 'Unplugged'
ponch1028 replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
I would love it if they were presented with the opportunity. I would hope that they'd not fall back on tried and true songs that translate well acoustically and rather take some creative risks to transform songs that their fans only know in their electric version. I think of what Neil Young did with Like A Hurricane. I love all their Mermaid Avenue songs and all, but for me, the entire band performing a stripped down Poor Places or to hear some of the newer material in an unplugged version (I'd love to hear Walken unplugged with the entire band, not just Jeff, or Hate It Here). I'm not -
I dig all four albums, but here is my order of preference: 1. Anodyne - For me, Jeff really stepped it up and peaked in terms of his UT contributions. Jay's music was always top notch. 2. Still Feel Gone - To me, this album has some of Jay's best music ever. 3. No Depression - Where it all started - still love it 4. March 16-20, 1992 - Is it me, or is this the UT album that has aged the worse out of all the records? I still love the songs, but for some reason, I don't love the album like I use to.

I have listened to every 2007 concert that has been made available and am quite impressed. This line-up is awesome. I believe that all the SBS songs I've heard live have been improved (especially Shake It Off). While I don't have anything to contribute to the dialogue concerning raw power that AGIB tracks have in a live setting, I will say that the one thing that does not show up on the live streams and listening to all the recordings is how much fun the band seems to have playing the new music. Having watched them in Charlotte, they clearly are enjoying playing the new music live. There

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I liked their opening set in Charlotte. I was pleasantly surprised by how many people were in Ovens Auditorium listening to them and how attentive they were (at least from where I was sitting). Granted, the size of the venue may not be the best environment for Low's music, but I liked it. Very epic in sound (IMO), kind of like Last of the Mohicans soundtrack played by a trio. Also, I dug the lyrics, lots about murder and redemption from what little I picked up. Definitely going to check them out more. Not everybody's cup of tea, but easily the best

Well, it has taken five years, five Wilco and one Jeff Tweedy concert, but this Wednesday, my wife, Julie, will experience her first Wilco concert. I

My sister-in-law met her husband at Smokey Joes. I've only been there for drinks, so I couldn't comment about any food. The one time we went for open mic night, the music was horrible. Guess you have to take the bad with the good for the sake of open mic music.

does anyone have the entire show recorded?

Live versus recorded versions of Wilco songs
ponch1028 replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
Here are some songs that I prefer the studio version vs. live: I'm The Man Who Loves You Wishful Thinking Company In My Back The Late Greats (I use to like it better live, but now I appreciate the studio version better) I reserve judgment on the Sky Blue Sky tracks until they have been played more in a live setting. -
Love it. It also works well as a duet with a female singer, as his performance at one of the Letters To Santa demonstrates. Beautiful song.
