  1. Heavy Metal Drummer is one of the better sing along songs of the Wilco catalog, although I'm not sure if "oooooooooo .... hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" qualifes as sing along. It's one of Wilco's song that I prefer Jeff doing solo rather than the band performing it, especially when he namechecks other artists. Other songs I prefer solo over the band: How To Fight Loneliness In A Future Age Candyfloss Reservations The Late Greats Sky Blue Sky (or Lullaby For Rafters and Beams)
  2. here are the mp3's of the aol sessions http://www.culturebully.com/wilco-on-aol-sessions#more-3480
  3. Both What Light and Shake It Off are two songs that greatly benefits from the energy of the band playing it live.
  4. My wife and I will be there, along with a couple of friends still in college. We're from Charlotte, and the only places near Ovens that come to mind that I would recommend to others is Lupe's (regularly voted best burger in Charlotte, along with the best chili in Charlotte), Red Rocks, or Hotel Charlotte. Lupe's is only about two miles from Ovens on Monroe Avenue. Last time I went, they still only accepted cash or checks (no credit cards or debit). Great meal and atmosphere for under $10 a plate. Red Rocks is a little more upscale, and you'll find patrons dressed a little more trendy t

  7. i can't download anything more than a day old at demonoid, is there any other way to get the webcast to download?
  8. I am not sympathetic to anyone who judges others in how they process and deal with negative events from their past. I tried to respond to your initial post with the benefit of the doubt to your poor choice of words, but I cannot any longer give you such courtesies. I am curious to know what your educational and professional credentials are to give such simplistic and na
  9. There is so ignorance and insensitivity in these statements - it not only demeans Jeff, his family and his personal demons, but it also demeans anyone and everyone who has struggled or known someone who has struggled with an addiction. Addiction is not a musician cliche. It is something that has destroyed and ruined lives, families, relationships and careers. I am quite certain this was not your intent, but your choice of words, your phrases, and the post itself was an embarrassment to you. I normally don't get on a soapbox when reading this website, but Floyd, do you see how poorly you ch
  10. I loved the DVD - I converted it onto my iPod as well, so I sometimes just pick it up and listen/watch it wherever (including the bathroom)
  11. Has anyone considered making a matrix mix of this show? I know there is the Web rip along with an audience recording of this. I don't know if Matrix mixes with Web rips are discouraged or frowned upon, but it just seems like there are several Tweedy and Wilco shows where we have a webcast recording and an audience recording which haven't been mixed by anyone. I certainly don't blame anyone, because I have neither the equipment or knowledge, but it seems like more of this was done in the past with Wilco shows.
  12. I do hear a lot more of Glenn with the actual disc.
  13. If the band's performance may have seemed a little uninspired, one must also consider that they are the very last element of the show and get to play one song. I know that's what they expect going into the appearance, but all the same, it doesn't necessarily conjure up much motivation. I thought the performance was satisfactory but nothing special. Oh well.
  14. i love all the different reactions to the original post - all the serious, sincere, and absurd posts. i love Pearl Jam's song i completely agree with the R.E.M. comparisons (although I still purchase every one of their albums because they've earned my respect and $15) and I'm married so whether or not Megan Wallace is on this board makes no difference to me (i just would have liked to have known whether or not she was down with me also)
  15. While we're at it: I wish gas would go back to costing $2.00 per gallon I wish Tom Cruise would go back to making insignificant but kickass movies I wish my metabolism was the same as it was when I was in college I wish Seinfeld was still making new episodes I wish SNL was still consistently funny and relevant I wish "Reality TV" never made it past the Real World I wish Joey had ended up with Dawson instead of Pacey and that Jen didn't have to die I wish I had eaten more vegetables as a child I wish I had learned to play more instruments as a child I wish My So Called Life had been on televi
  16. This mix tape has two purposes (1) Get her to dig Wilco music (2) Subtly (or not so subtly) communicate your feelings and emotion to her I tried to create a mix tape with this in mind. Only put about 5 minutes of thought into it. Probably could do better, but I like this mix nonetheless. Side 1 1. Misunderstood 2. California Stars 3. Muzzle Of Bees 4. A Magazine Called Sunset 5. Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again) 6. Radio King (Golden Smog) 7. Remember The Mountain Bed 8. Theologians 9. I'm The Man Who Loves You 10. Poor Places 11. On and On and On Side 2 1. 17. While I have read all of this with a slight bit of amusement, I really hope for the sake of Wilco's fanbase that much of the posts here have been sprinkled with a dose of sarcasm. If, in fact, everyone here ultimately holds to and believes what has been posted here, I would walk away thinking that a great many people have prejudices against white upper class kids simply because that's what they are. I think in the end we all view such a category as "the man" and we all love in one way or another to stick it to "the man". But, do we really want to take it a step further and cling to such pr
  18. I love both the Band and Wilco and cannot imagine life without listening to either of their musical contributions. That said, I think the Band will forever be a huge part of our Music History for three reasons: 1. They will forever be linked to Bob Dylan 2. Their own albums, which at least two are considered classic masterpieces 3. The music influence they had on other "important" artists, such as Van Morrison and Eric Clapton To me, this is also why comparisons between the Band and other groups (i.e., Little Feat) are fun but ultimately unsatisfying. So many other factors play into l
  19. Hell Is Chrome fits in pretty well with the mood of Sky Blue Sky, so I think it'll stay. Hummingbird is unique in that Jeff doesn't play guitar on it, so it has become a crowd pleaser. Handshake Drugs has a groove where everyone is really contributing to it (and John probably wants to keep playing it because it has a killer base groove). Theologians seems to have stuck around a bit. Company In My Back probably will also stick around. My guess is that ATTWYS and Spiders will rotate in and out of the setlist (but will not make as much of a regular appearance). Muzzle of Bees could suffer f
  20. This may be ethically questionable, but a long time ago I purchased the first Loose Fur CD. Several years ago I sold all my CD's and backed them up. However, my copy of Good Chinese Apple for some reason has several skips now. The rest of the CD plays fine on my iTunes and iPod. However, they Loose Fur doesn't have their CD's on iTunes (which is where I purchased individual songs). I didn't know if someone might PM me with a YSI of the album version of the song. If the moderators find this request to be inappropriate, I understand if they remove it. However, if someone reads this, coul
