  1. Leroy left on his own accord. He probably was tired of the relentless touring and wanted to adopt a more low-key lifestyle and career, hence leaving Wilco and entering into a career in theatre...I think. Amicable departure nonetheless. I think.
  2. Upon first read, I thought this said GFIY, meaning "go find it yourself." But I suppose "Google is your friend" is a softer way of saying that.
  3. I can hear a very slight similarity between "Dawned on Me" and "Glad It's Over" in terms of tempo, but I don't hear it in the melody. The former is a better song, in my opinion.
  4. A "slyly humorous country bass line" makes me think of the background music in some old ad for Super 8 Motel.
  5. I too have been hearing "co-captain," didn't really consider "cold captain." Then again, what is the lash of a black-belt model? And what's a jet-lag palm?
  6. And on that note, was I in your dreams, late last night? Did you hold your pillow, did you squeeze me tight?
  7. Can you keep it simple? Can you let the snare crack?
  8. Most everything on Summerteeth, but if I must be specific: Are there really ones like these / the ones I dream / float like leaves and freeze to spread skeleton wings / I passed through before I knew you (pretty much the entire lyrics to "She's a Jar" AND In the beginning / we closed our eyes whenever we kissed / we were surprised to find so much inside AND "ummmmm........."
  9. Very good review, other than a slightly predictable, well-worn phrase: "Neu!-esque motorik beat."
  10. Me too, along with just about every other tune from the record. And I haven't listened for a week.
  11. That's because she's referring to a Tweedy solo performance. http://wilcoarchive.com/tweedy%2020030516.shn/
  12. Band of Gypsys. Been too long since I spun this stuff -- his playing here outweighs anything he did with the Experience, IMHO.
  13. Er, Uncle Tupelo and an early "Wilco" live tune... "Gun" at So Long Saloon in Manhattan, Kan.
  14. "The Whole Love definitely ranks as my personal favorite Wilco record. For me, I had the same thrill as exploring a new Beatles record for the first time, SO much to discover here!" Full interview here: http://wilcoworld.net/#!/interview-bob-ludwig-mastering-engineer-of-the-whole-love/.
  15. I think there's a difference between a single and a whole album. But I wasn't there, so I don't know...
  16. Like Jay Bennett used to say about himself -- every article comes with a built-in lead paragraph. They were before my time, but I love Rush. Maybe that flick, helped bring some young folks into the fold. Just a version that's two minutes longer, if I read correctly.
  17. The car wouldn't start because there's no current in the water wire.
  18. After the Show thread And I agree -- I wouldn't mind it if BBN was dropped for a bit. And yes, I'll bet that copies of TWL will be available at the merch table at shows -- after it's been released, of course.
  19. I've misread many-a-thread before. It's all good.
  20. I believe I meant to say something else entirely. Apologies for my minced words. To correct myself: the mix of the stream is final. The recording of said stream, a low-quality version of the album, probably doesn't sound the way the CD, vinyl or mp3 will when the official release comes out, played through a good system with good speakers. People's feedback or opinions about a guitar tone or the level of bass, based on a stream, could very well change when they hear a better-quality version of the record.
