Same news via Wilco's Facebook page: On Friday June 21, opening night at Solid Sound Festival, Wilco will perform the first-ever (& maybe last?) live set comprised 100% of fan requests. We'll take submissions ahead of time, choose 50, the band will learn 'em and then pick randomly from those live from the stage that night. As a bonus they'll do some in real time submitted via Twitter & to top it off, a bit of "Stump the Band" w/ John Hodgman standing in for the late great Johnny Carson, giving those in the audience a chance to request songs live. It'll be a blast. Who's coming?

I think it's alright. I'm not as fond of the way Jay's voice sounds today vs. the Uncle Tupelo/early Son Volt period. I dig the music, but for some reason, his voice is the element I can't get into.

You'd be surprised, actually! I think most people who have them don't play them much, if at all...

That means they're playing instruments that were manufactured in that year, e.g. 1959, 1967, etc. They're vintage. I wouldn't call those antiques -- a guitar built in the 1920s might be considered an antique. There are also "reissues," which are newer instruments designed to the specs of an earlier model.

Just saw this! Dig the horns. Old rocker is mixing up the verses as he pleases.

Lennon/McCartney: Official discography, 1963-1969, yes. But they were writing and working together for years before Please Please Me was released. But I see what you're getting at and I agree that when there are two strong-willed, uber-creative personalities working together like that, it can only last for so long before the partnership implodes.

Yeah, it's not the audio recordings they have an issue with. It's people using their cell phones, an imperfect medium, to capture shaky, sub-par video and/or audio, instead of seeing/hearing the performance with their own eyes and ears. I think it's about people's preference to document something happening in front of them instead of just focusing on it and appreciating it as it happens.

The newest live soundboard I have of Cars Can't Escape, or know of, is from 2003.

And in other Beatles-related news...from their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151428286169539&set=a.210725979538.130908.69116329538&type=1&theater 12 HOURS TO PLEASE ME On Monday 11th February 1963 the Beatles’ debut album was recorded in just one day. On the 50th anniversary of that 12-hour session at Abbey Road, leading artists attempt the same feat, in the same timescale, in the same studio. Acclaimed guitarist Graham Coxon, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford from Squeeze and Manchester’s I Am Kloot join soul sensation Joss Stone, The Stereophonics
