  1. I enjoy the Being There-era live recordings of Wilco and the covers they tossed into the setlists. Now, I don't really need to hear any covers. Their catalog is so deep and full of great songs (and so many that are rarities) that I'd rather not get a cover where another great Wilco song could've been included.
  2. That's a helluva jacket. I knew someone that had one with Def Leppard and Motley Crue patches...
  3. Nice. That's what I thought of too, couldn't think of the name of the piece...
  4. Discussed in this thread: http://viachicago.org/topic/46434-wilco-hipstamatic-contest/page__hl__hipstamatic__fromsearch__1 And to a lesser extent, this thread: http://viachicago.org/topic/46694-do-you-know-what-wilco-needs-to-make/page__hl__hipstamatic__fromsearch__1
  5. Why would you buy the LP if you don't have anything on which to play it? By the way -- turntables are quite affordable these days.
  6. There's not a damn thing wrong with listening to A.M. Hell, as of late, I've actually been in an Uncle Tupelo mood.
  7. Highway 61, Blood on the Tracks and Another Side of Bob Dylan are the three I can always hear in their entirety no problem, every time.
  8. Calvin and Hobbes was, is and always will be my favorite. RIP Mr. Keane.

  10. Just listened to "Cars Can't Escape" for the first time on headphones. Wondering why I never gave it the headphone play before. Too many details on this one to even name. Banjo. Piano. Three-part harmony on about two or three words. Eargasm.
  11. I too recall the man boobs. I'm still on the fence about their IATTBYH cover, but I do love me some good soul bands.
  12. That's right...forgot the Harrison tune. I'm very much aware of All Things Must Pass. I guess I wasn't opening up "The Beatles" to music that wasn't produced by The Beatles. But I'm happy to play along.
  13. The subtle keyboard fills after Jeff finishes singing the first line in the second verse of "Born Alone." It's just two little notes.
  14. In 1988 that comment would've been made in reference to Uncle Tupelo.
  15. Say, Murph's list is interesting. Tried it out. Not bad. Essentially t's just Abbey Road and YHF mixed together with alternating tracks. And why he chose not to include "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window" is beyond me. I have a hard time breaking up the Abbey Road medley. Enjoyable nonetheless.
  16. The link I posted also has MP3s, although you have to download them individually.
  17. I don't really play this song with any minor chords.
  18. From the ashes of Uncle Tupelo! But seriously, good read. Nice commentary about punk and soul music.
  19. I thought The Weight is a Gift was a great record. Didn't care for Lucky as much.
