  1. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I did. Early Patterson vocals are interesting.
  2. SBS = working on musical interplay, jamming W(TA) = working out songs, studio capability TWL = both of the above coming together in a most excellent way
  3. I think a lot of folks were taken aback after a run of records full of troubled, twisted, haunting, hopeful, poetic lyrics and imagery and then hearing straightforward, less cryptic lines like "Maybe you still love me, maybe you don't, either you will or you won't," "I do the dishes, I mow the lawn" and "I'm walkin' all by myself." Not to say that "I'm a Wheel" has any real deep meaning -- to me, it's just a great thrasher with some nonsense lyrics.
  4. Oh yeah, those are good too. But I agree here. SBS was the first new Wilco record that came out since I became a fan, so it'll have that special place for me -- but I basically started with A.M. and Being There and worked my way forward, and can clearly the see the arc of those albums.
  5. I am going to start calling people "shithawk." That's tremendous. I have basically avoided listening to any bootlegs or other versions floating around, and this recording is the first time I'm hearing it. It's terrific.
  6. "You Are My Face" and "Sky Blue Sky" have the best lyrics on the record.
  7. I don't agree with getting rid of ITMWLY but do love me some "Nothing up My Sleeve."
  8. Thanks. I've been looking at all the different versions online and it just wasn't clear to me. I'm really enjoying this.
  9. Been listening to it on Spinner this week. I'd probably go for the 2-disc version. Can anyone tell me, though, at what point the actual "album" ends before it goes into the bonus tracks and alternate versions? I can't tell what the "final" track is.
  10. Maybe later on Bruce is gonna do the Neil Young thing and open up the vault, slowly letting a few things out each year. Or just turn it upside down and dump it all out at once...
  11. Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley's pre-DBT band. http://captainsdead.com/adams-house-cats-town-burned-down.html
  12. I just posted a link to an article comparing Ryan Adams & Jeff Tweedy over in the Just a Fan thread. Interesting read. http://viachicago.org/topic/46688-jeff-tweedy-ryan-adams-a-comparison/
  13. An article from the Kansas City Star this past weekend: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/10/29/3232997/tweedy-and-adams-on-divergent.html#storylink=misearch.
  14. You don't need an account to download anything. Just grab 'em one by one. When you hover your cursor over a track, off to the right you'll see a button to "Download." Hit it.
  15. Commenting on this thread rather than starting a new one -- came across the record by Adam's House Cat, Hood and Cooley's pre-DBT band. Over at the always-stellar blog Captain's Dead. http://captainsdead.com/adams-house-cats-town-burned-down.html
  16. Yeah, Jake's a badass. Look up his cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.
