  1. Did I say McCartney? Yeah, that's still true. But Coltrane is nipping at his heels.
  2. I remember tuning in for this one. Damn fine show. Great balance of albums in the set list: 6 each from SBS, AGIB and YHF; 4 from ST; and 2 each from BT and MA thrown in for good measure. My favorite shows from the current lineup are ones like these that draw a nice balance of songs from each of the albums, especially the first three records. My favorite Wilco show is still 10-13-2007 in KC, with 4 tracks from A.M., 3 from BT, 3 from ST, 5 from YHF, 4 from AGIB, 5 from SBS...and Hesitating Beauty. Perfect. The 2-27-08 show in D.C. has a nice spread too. I really liked the shows from 2007-2
  3. Jeff and Jay bury the hatchet, make new music together...Jay is the special surprise on the last day of Solid Sound. ;-)
  4. Naw, criticism is fine. I just don't feel like Wilco is being predatory here, nor do I feel preyed upon. I feel elated that something I've hoped for is finally happening. The overall responses I'm seeing on announcements from HQ elsewhere are quite positive. Doesn't seem like people are feeling like they're being taken advantage of.
  5. What difference does it make to you? Just curious. This isn't the first time Wilco has sold a batch of previously released tunes before...there are dozens of Roadcase recordings out there, many shows with nearly identical setlists. Dozens of songs that sound the exact same way (that is, awesome) performed live. At least this is something a little more fresh. I'm excited to hear these songs in this setting with Jeff's voice the way it sounds now. Hear how he inhabits these tunes many years after they were written, in a relaxed, great sounding environment. If you're not, fine! Take the gripin
  6. For a big fan such as myself, who is somewhat of a completist and who has also been hoping for a long time we'd see an official release of fresh recordings of Jeff performing songs solo that he wrote 10 years ago -- or longer -- it gets me very excited. I own everything Wilco has released on vinyl. LPs, 7" singles, rare promo releases, etc., because it's a hobby of mine and I love the music deeply. The joy I'll experience putting the puzzle together with my 4-year-old, who happens to LOVE puzzles and is very good at them, is something on which you can't place value. We'll listen to music toget
  7. Good God, the vinyl box set is already sold out. I literally tried to pre-order the minute the email came. I was working on my computer the moment it arrived in my inbox. Preordered the standard vinyl. I was looking forward to doing the jigsaw puzzle with my 4-year-old, who is obsessed with and awesome at puzzles.
  8. Brian Epstein wouldn't let them perform their singles in concert for most of their touring career but they managed to squeeze some in before they retired from the road.
  9. None of the songs on Revolver could've been reproduced live with their setup. It was intended that way. And they quit touring in 1966...it's really strange that this is a surprise.
  10. Gimme Fictiom still reigns supreme for me. I like a few of the new tracks - got my head bobbin' and foot tappin'.
  11. FWIW, Jeff Tweedy played ITMWLY four times in 1999 and four times in 2000, and Wilco played it 13 times in 2000. But yeah, it's been ubiquitous since the first YHF tour.
  12. I just don't see what the current lineup would do with it. It's so bare bones, and frankly, in my opinion, a bit plodding and monotonous. I don't mind when it comes up in the shuffle from time to time, but I think it would be a momentum killer in a live show. I've heard a ton of the songs mentioned in this thread, as I have been lucky to attend a fair number of shows, including ones with great setlists. The "Evening with Wilco" show I saw in 2010 was a nice three-plus hour clearinghouse of tunes, and the KC show in 2007 had 4 tracks from A.M. What gets me excited is when deep cuts from the
  13. I think the people who continue to make remarks about Wilco being a jam band have not listened to enough jam bands. Not even close.
  14. I'm in the same boat. I love Jeff's style, and we don't get to hear enough of it.
  15. Me too. Had they advertised that item (or more of them altogether) I'd have made a stronger effort. But they previewed only a few of the items. And the sale ran during a time that I simply couldn't get online. I can't afford any of those instruments (and I've been playing guitar for 20 years) but I could've easily shelled out some cash for an LP test pressing.
  16. Gonna have to respectfully disagree on the UT analysis. I think No Depression is the least interesting of the four. It has some great tracks but the songwriting and arrangements improved vastly over the next three records. It's all too much of one sound for me and sounds redundant as it plays on. Of the more punk-leaning records, I prefer Still Feel Gone in every way. Superb. I do appreciate March 16-20 for what it is, but depending on the day or my mood, it can either be brilliant or a little redundant like No Depression. Anodyne, in no way, shape or form, in my mind, could be considered the
  17. If they are going to be in the Roadcase, Wilco HQ usually sends out an email with that information.
  18. 2008. And yep, I believe it was everything that had appeared on an official release.
  19. Nope. It was very heavy on YHF and AGIB. The first night they played 10 from AGIB, and 11 from the album each of the other three nights. They played 7 from YHF the first night, and 6 from the album each of the other three nights. They did sprinkle in tracks from every other record, mostly from Being There, and a little bit of Summerteeth, A.M., Mermaid Ave., etc. But if I were to take a glance at these setlists and summarize them, it seems like the emphasis on AGIB/YHF/BT from 2017 is pretty similar to 2005 at the Vic. It's all Wilco, and I love it.
  20. So: emphasis on the 3 best Wilco albums, except Summerteeth, clearly not getting much love here. 2 songs? Damn. Via Chicago and Shot in the Arm, right? Reading the other "After the Show" threads it sounds like the band was tight and played really well, just not as much setlist variety as some would have hoped. The 2014 Winterlude was awesome and would be perfect for those chasing setlist diversity. Six nights and an extremely wide range of tunes. If I'm listening to live Wilco, it's those shows. Also noticed quite a few comments about Pat looking "off" during this residency, e.g., lower en
  21. Zep III and IV have wonderful blends of the English folk and heavy blues/rock. Perfection. Excited about this one, sounds promising!
  22. A.M. is better than AGIB? Depends on the day for me. Today, having spun AGIB only vinyl for the first time in a long while, I'm not sure there's a better record.
