  1. Hey, it looks like the official lyrics have been posted here: http://wilcoworld.ne...!/song/I-Might/ Not sure how long they've been up but check them out!
  2. Agreed. I'm just going to stay tuned and not get my hopes up too much this early on.
  3. Oooh man. I sense a traffic increase on the horizon!
  4. Really enjoying this one. Starting to dive into the new Girls record as well:
  5. I viewed it as a sort-of homage myself . With regards to the use of Nels, it's something I've thought about before (as I'm sure many here have). With The Whole Love, I'm hoping they have found somewhat of balance. I thought the strongest songs on SBS were carried by some of the climbing guitar freakouts and on WTA that was reduced to little flourishes or, especially in the case of One Wing, build-ups that are never resolved, so to speak. I have listened to the new tracks performed at Solid Sound, in addition to I Might and of course, the teaser. It seems they may have hit a groove in this are
  6. I'm also a big fan of this site: http://wilcobandnews.wordpress.com/ Seems a lot of work goes into compiling an expansive collection of cool and sometimes rare Wilco stuff! Greatly appreciated.
  7. Stumbled upon this video online and traced it back. So, here is Wilco's "artist page" on the VH1 website: http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/wilco_1/artist.jhtml Under the Music Videos headline there are a couple videos including a pro-shot live performance of Kicking Television. Just curious as to whether anyone knows what this was shot for? If I'm not mistaken I believe KT was originally going to be a concert film as well but the idea ended up being scrapped. Might this be some footage from that? Judging by their haircuts and the fact that the video was posted January 3rd, 2006 it seems to b
  8. I've been going back and re-watching all the episodes again after a little break. Still sharp!
  9. I've been on a big Stella kick lately. Absurd, but hilarious.
  10. Hey all! I've really enjoyed the "Now Playing (insert month/year)" thread on here the past couple years and awhile back I created a facebook group dedicated to a similar idea. It's sort of turned into a communal spot for posting youtube videos, band pages, album streams, blogs, reviews, and everything in between. We've got about 125 members so far but in an effort to increase the variety of sounds the group members are exposed to I thought I'd invite my friends from the VC community to join up if you wish! The group name is just "Ear & Now" if you wish to search, otherwise this link shou

  13. I seem to remember "The Raccoonists" as one of the passed over names for Loose Fur. I believe it can be found on the back of the self-titled record?
  14. http://honoluluweekl.../08/going-solo/ Top three guitar solos? “Marquee Moon” by Television, Nels’ solo at the end of “Art of Almost” Is that a new song? Yeah, it’s on our new record. And three would be Neil Young’s solo in “Cinnamon Girl.”
  15. Well it's official. I've become fully addicted to Kurt Vonnegut. After reading Slaughterhouse-Five about a year a go (and really enjoying it) I moved on to some other things, forgetting how great it was. Then, about a week ago I picked up a copy of Player Piano and was absolutely blown away. Before I had even finished it, I placed an order on Amazon for Cat's Cradle and The Sirens of Titan. As of today I have torn through all 3 of them, finishing each within 24 hours. I bought Galapagos awhile back but I think I'm going to give myself a little break on Vonnegut for now. I should be receiving J
  16. It wouldn't be surprising, but I can see how some would find it sort of funny. Either way, are we debating the merits of the humor in whether or not a beer was potentially/coincidentally named with a rock group's name in mind? Yes. It's a wonderful beer. I play in a group called Foxtrot and we had quite a few laughs while enjoying it. I will keep the bottle for as long as I can. The closest we'll likely ever come to being on the same bill as Wilco
  17. Yeah the interviewer was a little off-putting to begin with. But I think it's important to realize that he is a radio DJ. A radio DJ who lives in Hawaii, year-round. The interview itself was nice and he did seem genuinely honored/excited/etc. to be sitting down with Jeff. Seemed to wander all over the place but again, that's probably just the nature of the man. It's why most of us opt only to vacation in places like Hawaii...brotha.
  18. http://www.spin.com/articles/premiere-tinariwen-wilcos-nels-cline "Tinariwen and Cline crafted the song separately on two different continents. The group worked up basic groove in Algeria, while Cline recorded his parts in Wilco's Chicago Loft studio. Cline's producer Ian Brennan says the guitarist's concept was to "be like a UFO landing in the desert," which pretty much sums up Cline and Tinariwen's perfect pairing."

    I Might

I really like the contrasts and back-and-forth between the fuzzed out bass and bouncy organ/bells. If this is any indication of how this record plays out I'll be pretty happy. The screaming guitar riff fits in just right. I think SBS was a bit of a Nelsgasm at times and that WTA really pulled back on some of that excellent guitar work (a bit too far, perhaps). Hoping it's peppered in to my liking on The Whole Love . Overall I think it's a great song! Not overly adventurous, but considering it's the first single released I'm assuming it's one of the more accessible tracks on the record. I've fo
  20. Echoing a few others here. I went ahead and pre-ordered the deluxe CD (I think I may prefer that cover as a side note) so I could have the bonus tracks, booklet, etc. Considered going with the vinyl but after reading through this thread a bit I decided to give myself an excuse to get over to the Electric Fetus once it is released. The pre-order has definitely caused a jump in my anticipation though! Come on Sept. 27!
  21. Sorry A-Man, I understand this is a sort-of sensitive deal. I thought I might give it a shot having just purchased the vinyl (in many ways, specifically for the previously unreleased tracks). I was a little disappointed to find it lacking a cd copy/code for digital download. Just wish I could carry the tracks around with me. The pains of modernity!
  22. Hey sorry to bring this thread back from the grave but I recently purchased a new copy of the Kicking Television vinyl set and would love to grab the additional songs in a digital format . Has anyone ripped them from the record and would be willing to send a PM my way? If I had the ability to do so I would I do it myself but alas, my old turntable just can't make it happen.
  23. 1: I was 12 years old when Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was released, so forgive me if I'm a little late to the party. I believe the first time I heard Wilco was through a friend of mine, my junior year of high school. So that would be... 2007? His older brother had given him a couple of their records. He played a few songs for me one day and was talking them up quite a bit. I wouldn't say I was instantly hooked but I was instantly curious. I remember describing the little guitar solo at the end of Theologians as sounding like a theme song to an old video game (full disclosure: I was possibly a little
