That poster looks fake to me. They misspelled Ben Sollee's name. And it's very amateur looking. I could be wrong, but I'm not buying it yet. EDIT. Gregg Allman is also misspelled.

Sadly, you might be right. And I expect/hope LP10 takes a while. But Gruff has mentioned it in recent interviews, so it is still the next thing on his horizon. And we both know that tends to be a pretty short distance. We'll see. It's unfortunate that such a talented band could possibly be done in by money, but that's life. -

I've seen the Furries twice. Good shows. This will be my first Gruff solo gig. Whole different world, but I'm beyond psyched. He's the best songwriter out there, in my opinion. And the solo stuff more than holds its own with the band catalogue. I wouldn't rule out SFA LP10 towards the end of this year. He's done solo and full band albums in the same year before. Don't hold your breath or anything, but it's not too far fetched an idea. 2007 was Candylion vs. Hey Venus at the top of my end of year list. -

Haven't gotten to the Twilight Singers yet. But I recently bought the Gutter Twins album Dulli did a few years ago, because I'm a huge Lanegan fan. Love that one, so I picked Gentlemen up for $3 at this used book store. And I bought 1965 this past weekend. I've only played it twice, but it sounds like another good one. Nice r&b/rock combination going on. -

Damn. Came in here hoping no one had gotten to that yet. Good post. That whole album is hilarious. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is especially great. -
OK, I can accept that. Prince has more than two great albums though. PR and SOTT are at the top, of course. But there's more. Anyway, he's a personal favorite of mine. I go through big phases of all the artists I really like, but none of them are ever as intense as when I get back into Prince's catalogue. I've yet to see him live, but it's been at the top of my dream concert list for a few years now.

Don't get me started on Prince album art. It's never been good, except Around The World In A Day. But the Target only package is a new low. That shit aside, Lotusflower (one of the Target discs) was, all in all, a very solid album. Lots of good stuff on there. Not buying that he needed the Revolution. He still wrote and played almost everything on those records. Beginning of Purple Rain is a glaring exception, of course.

I'm aware, yes. Isn't he already the Biggie of music though?

See, HIGO reminds me much more of those 90's records than stuff like Phrenology/Rising Down/Things Fall Apart/Game Theory. There's really no Roots album I don't think is good, but their jazzier side is my favorite, and I loved it returning (in a way) on HIGO.
-
I think it's their best, period, but that works. Either way, glad to see some love for Wake Up.
-
Damn. HIGO is my #1, easily. Interesting. I have been meaning to check out Big Boi's album. I enjoy Outkast a fair amount.
-
Fair amount of hip hop there, but no How I Got Over?

Lots of early 90's hip hop lately, mostly because of this album. Title pretty much says it all.
