  1. Use Me - Bill Withers - my current cell phone ringtone
  2. And it has not even made a single best of decade list (except my list of course)...
  3. So far I think I'm going to agree with 1986, it sure as hell is worse than 1974. Really the premise he goes with is the year in which the largest group of really bad songs was released which has nothing to do with how many good albums were released. Clearly the worst actual year for music (in the rock era) had to have been sometime in the 80's.
  4. Can't you see - Marshall Tucker
  5. Wow, saw this last night and it might be in my top 5 movies of all time. I could have watched for another 8 hours. Seeing where U2 used to practice, where Zep IV was recorded, etc... I'm a sucker for that stuff. Watching Jack build that guitar in like 3 minutes. They all come at the guitar from such different angles but all have such obvious love for the instrument. It's funny, Stairway to Heaven is such a cliche for guitar but when you watch Jimmy play it in the context of this movie you realize what a great guitar song it is (and why it has become such a cliche). Early footage of all
  6. According to Tim Page, 1974 is the worst year for music ever. He makes a convincing case: 1974 "Billy don't be a hero" "The night Chicago died" "Your having my baby" "Seasons in the sun" "I honestly love you" "Mockingbird" I happen to love the 70's too much, there has to be some worse years in the 80's and 90's but I still have to do my research to figure it out. I would love to hear what you think.
  7. This pretty much sums it up for me. Also, it's not consensual with a 13 year old no matter what, even without the drugging it's sleazy. The drugging just puts it way over the top.
  8. They are in town this month and I am seriously thinking about checking it out. Good to hear they are worth it.
  9. I would love to see those guys, just a monster group of musicians and they have such love for the music.
  10. To me, if you don't like FACE then you don't like Pollard. It's everything that's great about his music.
  11. As Peter Griffin once said "It insists on itself Lois, it insists on itself". For 1991 I might have to go with Flyin the Flannel although god help me I do love Nirvana.
  12. The only thing that might top that would be bringing Scarface with you. I can't wait for the Unforgettable fire. I have such good memories of blasting that album.
  13. They do have some of the best album names of all time. ElectricLaryland, Hairway to Steven, Locust Abortion Technician I would love to see them live although Gibby does kind of scare me.
  14. Sgt. Peppers = Timeless Timeless = aged well Sgt. Peppers = aged well It's simple math
  15. Wow, that's a huge list with some stiff competition. The entire Basement tapes would be interesting!
  16. I have been hinting what a wonderful Christmas or Birthday gift the Mono box would be but my wife just got me a ten game nuggets package so I don't think I'm getting it. Time to figure out a new plan...
  17. Speaking of the guitar or your dreams, there are probably a few here. Some Martin 000-28 guitars for $50 to$70,000 Christies
  18. I'm only a few spins through it and so far I like it quite a bit. There are some nice videos on pitchfork.tv to check out a few of the songs.
  19. Just as I suspected would happen, I plug my Alesis IO2 audio interface in, cue up Sonar, and it does not recognize it. I new it would not be seemless but what a pain. Time to start googling for answers on how to fix.
