Oh yeah, I forgot the Decemberists on my list.

Very few albums grab me on the first listen so I do need to step back and try to live with an album for awhile but it's so hard to do. I have a subscription to MOJO and they have about 50 new albums reviewed every issue and a large number of them sound interesting. I definitely get more music than I end up listening to. This board is very helpful in helping me wade through the huge amount of music so I do listen to people's opinions about what is good. Really enjoying the new Califone which is a direct result of what I have heard here. It is tough to not listen to something once and then

Musicans file freedom of information request over music and toture

Not to mention the music was probably deeply offensive to their religious sensibilities. -
Those look fantastic. I have a framed poster from the Red Rocks show in 2003 but I like yours better. Very cool.

Now that's funny. Actually I really do have the CD and went out and bought the first album as well so I have a clear conscience. It will always be Seven mile island to me though.

I thought it was fantastic and will be checking them out again. Amazing how well they pulled it off. They announced at the end that it was a show from 5/11/80. Great atmosphere with everyone around me trying to guess what show it was, very friendly crowd, everyone dancing and having a good time. The Fillmore was actually packed and that is not a small place. Overall, highly recommended for anyone that likes the Dead. Thanks for asking!

QFT I sure hope I won't be disappointed about this one. With that rhythm section I would sound good playing guitar.

I'm thinking there is going to be a rash of "Balloon boy" costumes this year.

Certainly it's an oppurtunity for these artists to weigh in with their moral outrage and that's why they are doing it, but I see a big difference between torture and strip clubs or some of the other examples. Are we incapable of drawing the line somewhere anymore? I don't know if it should be a law or anything but certainly the artists have the right to be outraged. It's torture for god's sake. -
I like Turtles!

Yesterday by the Beatles would be a great cover! Edit: Ok, bad joke.

You have just confirmed my opinion that I have no desire to see that movie.

I actually had that poster in my dorm room back in the 80's.

So true. -
I get so excited with threads like this. Can't wait to hear this one!

I did not iron my name on either although I was thinking of ironing on "the shit hits" (the fan) if I ever get around to it.

This is tough, top 5 in no order: 1. Wilco (the album) 2. Jason Isbell - Seven Mile Island 3. Farm - Dinosaur Jr. 4. The Cribs - Ignore the ignorant 5. Son Volt - American Central Dust I don't know, these are off the top of my head. I have not heard the new Califone (but will very soon).

Streamed "The Mission of Burma Story: Not a Photograph" on Netflix the other night. Recommended

That Mould looks amazing, what a great picture. I can almost see what pedals he is using. He is in my top 5 list of people I have never seen live that I really want to see.

As good as the Red album? That's probably the first new metal album I have really enjoyed in a long time.

Interesting, they are playing Uncle Tupelo on my Pandora Robert Pollard station.
