I loved that.

Reminds me of Homer Simpson reading "Gravy World" I used to read "Pizza today" at work when I delivered pizza's for a living in high school. "The new ovens are in!"

Congrats on that! Was Paul Shaeffer leading everything again?

They block Youtube at work so I can't watch the trailer yet but really, I already know I will be seeing this.

Possibly the funniest sports quote I have seen in awhile. Other thoughts: When is Nene going to realize how big he is? I think this is going to be Melo's breakout MVP year. He took over the 4th quarter against Portland last night. Ty Lawson looks like the real deal already. Wow, the Clippers are cursed. Blake Griffin hurt already. Please, not another Lakers - Celtics end to the year!

I can't listen to Christmas music until at least thanksgiving but I"m a sucker for it. I have no doubt I will love the Dylan album and I am actually really looking forward to playing it for the first time (in November). Hell, I may buy copies for all my friends and share the spirit.

From what I can see of the homework, they are actually connecting the thread to today. The examples that I can see on her homework for modern day psychedelic are "Dandy Warhols" and "Brian Jonestown Massacre" among others. I would at least agree with BJM but Pop Todd has a good list. I'm pretty impressed with any high school class that is going to bring up BJM.

So were John Lennon and Paul McCartney really in a band called "the Nurk Twins" pre-Beatles? My daughter was quizzing me on Beatles trivia from her "history of rock and roll" class and that was one of the answers. How could I have never heard that in all the books about the Beatles I have read? Maybe I just glossed over it.

Quicksilver Messenger Service and Fever Tree come to mind as well.

I was thinking the same thing. 13th floor elevators have to be on the list somewhere, so many bands tried to copy that Roky Erickson vocal style (and failed).

That's what I though, they never offered anything remotely like a rock and roll history class when I was in school. They spent about a week on the Beatles which was way too short but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere. Surrealistic pillow would be the obvious choice but I agree, Baxter's would be the better choice. What's depressing about the class to me is they don't actually listen to any music. They just talk about it.

Thanks for starting an NBA thread. I'm going to the Nuggets home opener tomorrow night. Pretty good predictions on your part although the thought of the Lakers repeating casts a pall over the season. The spurs will give them a run with Jefferson and if Genobli stays healthy. I don't see that the Nuggets have improved personnel wise since last year although it's time for Melo to give Lebron a run for his money. Magic look tough this season and the Celtics will be in it all the way. My head says Lakers - Celtics (please no!) but my heart says Spurs and Cavs.

So my daughter is in a rock and roll history class in high school and they are currently learning about psychedelic music. What's funny is her homework has a list of the "15 most essential psychedelic albums" as if it's common knowledge or fact. This is the list: 1. Beatles - Sgt Pepper 2. Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour 3. Yardbirds - Roger the Engineer 4. Byrds - Fifth Dimension 5. Doors - The Doors 6 Jefferson Airplane - Jefferson Airplane loves you 7. Pink Floyd - Piper at the gates of dawn 8. Jimi Hendrix - Are you experienced 9. Great Society - Collector's item 10. Mothers of

I'll take a listen when I get home as well. There has been some great stuff I Have heard from people on this board. Makes me feel inferior as a "musician".
