Heard a comedian talking about how the Grammy's always go to the big stars. Just once he would like to hear: "And the grammy goes to (insert obscure name here). They couldn't be here tonight because their van broke down on the way to the ceremony. Their manager was not available to accept the award on their behalf as he could not get the time off from his job at the video store..."

I got a kick out of the part where Jim James said he puts his pants on one leg at a time like every one else. Then birds carry out his pants in which he proceeds to do a backflip into.

Underworld has been on my list for awhile as well. So far Gravity is pretty much what I expected. I have to have the internet nearby at all times or I'm lost. GON may be right on this one but I'm going to soldier on. It has it's moments. Thanks for the words of encouragement (you too Neon).

I heard the streets of Hungary are lined with Chocolate. -
The roots are the only thing that kept that from looking like an episode of Yacht rock.

My daughter had to make up a band and pick the players she wanted in it for her rock and roll history class. I was pretty proud of her choices: Band name: Twisted Vacuum Members: Nels Cline - Lead Guitar Joe Strummer - Vocals and Rhythm Guitar Tal Wilkenson - Bass Terry Bozzio - Drums She considered Elton John for Keyboards but thought it would cause too much drama in the band. I think she has seen too much of my band drama over the years.

It sounds like there is a sense that people in these religions disagree with discrimination but are putting up with it because they don't want to leave? Certainly that's true in some cases but I think in most cases they are perfectly fine with it because they have been told and are being told every other Sunday that homosexuality is wrong.

I have looked for his music based on seeing his name on many of your "favorite" or "Best of" lists but it's difficult stuff to find, at least where I usually look. I am intrigued to see this movie.

The fact that religion gives people an outlet or excuse for fear and hate gives me little comfort because it seems to be a socially acceptable outlet. The fact that religion justifies some of this behavior is what is so wrong to me. Without religion, would people have that socially acceptable justification? I am squarely on the side of religion having caused more harm than good in the world but as has been stated, we will never know.

Interesting, I just started "Gravity's Rainbow" earlier and the first quote in the book is: "Nature does not know extinction; all it knows is transformation. Everything science has taught me, and continues to teach me, strengthens my belief in the continuity of our spiritual existence after death." Wernher Von Braun

That is so much cooler than any wedding I have been to, including my own. Congrats on the big day!

We must be no more than Bacteria in God's eyes. Why would he even deal with us? Part of the problem I have with all the arguments is that people seem to know an awful lot about god until you get to a question that is too hard to answer. Then it becomes "God's will" or "we can't begin to understand it". I do admire your passion for the subject though Sarah!

I believe "All those years ago" by George had Paul and Ringo on it.

We have a Honda dealership that is "no haggle" (you pay the sticker price and that is it) and another one nearby that is the full haggle experience. I went to both and ended up getting a better deal at the "no haggle" place (for a Civic). I don't mind the haggle process if it is going to get me a better deal but that did not seem to be the case. If I know I'm going car shopping the next day I just stay up really late the night before I go in so I'm nice and grouchy, get a huge coffee, put on my game face, do my research so I know what I should ber paying, and settle in for a long process.
