  1. Not sure if he was using leslies. I assumed it was his usual Fuzz face, univibe, wah, octavia set up. Have not heard the video feed of monterey but now I want to.
  2. So I am very hesitant to ask this question because I don't know if it's impossible, if it's a stupid question, if it's been answered, obviously there is no one answer but here goes. If you were to recommend one Grateful Dead recording to someone to really show them what they are all about, what would it be? I'm asking because I have always liked the band but have never really delved into them much. I remember being in a store on Haight one time and they were playing a live dead show really loud and I was absolutely hypnotized by it. Like an idiot I did not ask what it was. Up until that
  3. I believe it was Conan O Brian that said he obviously was not there to steal condoms. Maybe some Magic the Gathering cards and Mountain Dew.
  4. Holy cow that's tough. First to come to mind: The Stand - Stephen King A Prayer for Owen Meany - John Irving American Pastoral - Philip Roth Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Hunter Thompson A storm of Swords - George R. R. Martin
  5. Jimi's woodstock set up. Always wanted to try a Marshal cranked up to 10. I'm half deaf anyway.
  6. The Fenders they make these days are actualy really good quality unlike the stuff from the early 90's. I love my 52 Tele re-issue. It is now my main guitar because you can play anything on it.
  7. A colleague just burned me a copy of the following! Sweet!: Wilco February 16, 2008 Riviera, Chicago IL USA First Set 01 Intro 02 Someone Else's Song 03 Hell Is Chrome 04 Handshake Drugs 05 Muzzle of Bees 06 Via Chicago 07 I Am Trying To Break Your Heart 08 Hotel Arizona 09 A Shot In The Arm 10 Impossible Germany 11 It's Just That Simple 12 When You Wake Up Feeling Old 13 Too Far Apart 14 Hate It Here 15 Jesus Etc.* 16 Forget The Flowers* 17 Dash 7* 18 Christ For President* 19 Walken^ 20 I'm The Man Who Loves You^ Second Set 21 Newhart Intro 22 The Late Greats 23 Heavy Metal Drummer 24
  8. I would say you can't go wrong with either Lammy's or Cryptique's lists. As long as it has a big healthy dose of Chronic Town and Murmur you should be good. I would also add "Ignoreland" to my list.
  9. Actually, Jimmy Page's guitar tone in the solo to Stairway to Heaven is nice, I think I heard it was done on a Tele. Neil Young gets some great Acoustic guitar tones as well. I also really like Andy Gill's tone, at least it works really well for his style.
  10. Probably not really what your looking for but there's some nice Cello in Nirvana unplugged.
  11. Obvious ones but: Hendrix - Machine Gun SRV - Texas Flood David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb Eric Johnson - Anything Eddie Van Halen - First Album There's plenty more. Nash Kato - Nice one!
  12. Finally getting around to listening. Really like the Noble Octopus stuff so far! Love that guitar tone (for example on "Departure"), very sonic youth or something. Is that a Mustang! Anyways, once I get a chance I will listen to the rest. No vocals or have I just picked the non vocal tracks so far?
  13. Maybe this should be my new Avatar. "Just shut your mouth, how can you say, I go about things the wrong way..."
  14. Nice! Neil with Booker T was one of the best concerts I saw (Blind Melon and Social D opened up). Thanks for posting this, sounding really good!
  15. Love it. And this reminds me I'm way overdue to listen to it (been going with Summerteeth this week).
  16. I got about a sentence in, then decided just to listen to this:
  17. Seriously? (I mean the face licking, the death is not a complete shock).
  18. WTF? They have to play in Boulder the same night Jason Isbell is in town? Can't they work this shit out better than that! Feast or damn famine around here!
  19. Holly Holy - Neil Diamond - How the heck did that get on there! (Actually I'm a closet Neil Diamond fan). Pass the Hatchet - Yo La Tengo Hang me up to dry - Cold war kids Alone again or - Love (This is why I love random play!) Living on a thin line - Kinks I found that essence rare - Gang of Four
  20. I don't understand what happened to his sound. His guitar tone on the first 3 albums is so much better than later albums. Hopefully this new guitar is closer to the old sound, although really, Van Halen lost relevance a long, long time ago.
  21. I took it lightly as well. Maybe just misunderstood the point which I do often. I tend not to post if I'm actually upset by something. That's what makes my posts so nice and boring.
  22. Good thing this is isolated to democrats, I would hate to think there were any Republicans that had tax issues.
  23. He made his mother cry, has he not already paid his dues.
  24. I also tried to find some info and came up blank. Only read that he presided over the Clinton impeachment hearings, is a huge spender, and has no real experience in the area he was chosen for, and is a republican. Seems like an odd pick but no mention of mafia connections (although he looks the part!).
  25. That's why it's all subjective. Jay is way more of a "traditional" pentatonic/major scale player. Nels is from outer space but with an amazing sense of melody. He clearly knows his music theory but does not use it like he just swallowed a scales book. They both have their place. I think the direction the band is going fits Nels better than Jay. But heck, they both brought/bring incredible musicianship.
