Yes! Thank you! That whole 60's nostalgia fest get's tiresome. The music is beyond that. Save that for playing that crappy "flowers in your hair" song.

I agree it's a pretty standard 12 bar blues but I think the feel and vocals fit in nicely with the rest of the album. I always assumed he was singing about Patti Boyd again in that song. I guess for me it works, it's standard blues but he is not phoning it in.

And I'm going to agree with PopTodd, I think I could put Layla on the list.

Ooh, how is this? I absolutely loved New Wave. Looking forward to checking this out.

Thank you, I knew I could not be the only one. And I'm going to add: Physical Graffiti - Led Zep #1 Record - Big Star My Aim is true - Elvis Costello In it for the money - Supergrass The Color and the shape - Foo Fighters

We live in a wonderous age. Abuse your liver for 40 years, then turn it in for a newer model.

First one that comes to mind: Pink Floyd - Animals

Rolling Stone has seriously had some of the best journalism around in the last year. Taibbi's financial analysis, Tim Dickinson's stuff, the article in mention above.

Generally I think a drum solo at any concert is time to head to the bathroom or get a beer but a good drummer is absolutely key to a band. As someone who has auditioned many a band member, drummers do seem to be a different breed of cat altogether.

I just read an interview with Ringo where he said he prefers the Stereo mixes over the Mono mixes. Of course he is going by how his drums sound.

Might be my favorite thing he has done. Some amazing guitar playing and some of the songs would not be out of place on an early Crowes album.

Wow, didn't know Danzig was that touchy. Don't think I would want to piss him off though. -
Thanks for the reminder, checking it out now.

As usual, great pictures. Great shot of the shoes. I love me some Neko. -
No problem. I was told it is only being sold at his gigs right now, I know I did not see it on Amazon anywhere. Here is the cover:

My brother shook Rod Carews hand during cactus league play. I chickened out. Regretted it ever since. I got the Big Star Box set for Fathers day. Woot!

Via Chicago's Top 100 Albums of All Time: Summer 2010 edition
Moss replied to gogo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Personally I think you have to go with your favorites instead of what you consider "best albums" to make this list interesting. Otherwise it becomes some BS hipster list of albums that people think they should be picking but never even listen to. Those lists are all over the web already. Having said that, I am incapable of making a list of this type although I may give it a try. I end up with analysis paralysis and usually give up. -
Finally broke down and got this today. So good.

A huge blow to their defense as well.

The new Marc Ford album "Fuzz Machine" is sounding really good. You can check out some tracks on his myspace page. Some great guitar work so far. I love "Bolero in Red". Marc Ford Myspace

Godfather? - Nope, Godfather 3 sucked too bad. Star wars? - Nope, Return of the Jedi sucked too bad. I'm going with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
